Review "The Titan Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout"

The Return (Titan series #1)
The Fates are cackling their bony asses off…

It’s been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they’ve given him have been violent and bloody–which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He’s got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy’s deal might be, but it’s a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

Review
I must say I loved this book allot more the second time I read it. I liked it the first time obviously but it didn't make a big an impact that the covenant series did.
I didn't really love nor hate Seth in the Covenant series. Did I get mad at him for getting between Alex and Aiden yes, do I hate how he behaved, yes, do I hate the things he did, definitely yes but do I hate him, no I don't. I could see how Seth got manipulated into doing what he did. I saw there was more to him than he was showing. And I believe, even more so after reading this book, that he never truly meant for things to happen as they did. He did everything in his power to make it right.
I didn't like Seth with Alex because I knew Alex would never truly love Seth like she does Aiden. I do love Seth with Josie. He deserves someone that loves him for him, and not be second.

What is this book all about.
This book takes place a year after the ending of Sentinel. Seth traded his mortal and after live for Aiden to become immortal and therefor be with Alex. Seth is basically the gods bitch boy, their assassin. Whatever the gods wants him to do, he has to do.  Apollo is the one sending Seth on assignments. This time Seth has to find a person. He only know's the persons initials and on which university to find said person. Apollo is the master of giving as little information as possible and only provide all the information a while after it would have been nice to have said info.
Anyway Seth sets of to find this mystery person and finds out it's a girl named Josie. Seth is shocked as he finds her because she reminds him of a certain girl he rather not thing about.
Josie seems like a ordinary human at first but as it turns out that is far from the truth. Josie is very important in the upcoming war. You see the Titan Seth and the others set free, that escaped in Sentinal, decided to free his buddies. And now they're planning all kinds of havoc.

Josie didn't have an easy childhood. Her mother got diagnosed with schizophrenia and that hasn't been easy for Josie to live with her. To make matters worse, her mother never really made her feel like she wanted her. After running into a hot guy of collage, her lives changes in ways she never could have imagined. She gets thrown into a world where Greek Mythology isn't mythology at all. The gods are very much real and they need her help.

This book is the start of Seth finding his redemption in Josie. He is desperate to find himself again. All he's been all his life is just the Apollyon and with Josie he feels like he can be more than that.

What did I love about this book
I loved seeing some of the old gang again, Luke, Deacon, Apollo etc. But what I liked most is getting to know more about Seths backstory. I really felt sorry for him and what his live has been like.  He never felt wanted and never had a family that loved him. I can see how that was used against him. He craved a family and when that got dangled in front of him he got blindsided by what was actually going on.
I loved Josie, I loved how she saw him as just Seth. She handled the situation she was in very well.

I do have to say, If you haven't read the Covenant series and you're planning on reading both this series and the Covenant series, read the covenant series first. If you read this series first you'll receive some major spoilers about the covenant series. The Titan series can be read as a complete standalone series.

The Power (Titan Series #2)
With any great change, there is always strife, and the Covenant University has become the frontline between pure-bloods who want the Breed Order reinstated and the half-bloods who want the right to control their own destinies.

Fate has other plans.

The violence is escalating and war between the races seems inevitable, and it couldn’t come at a worse time. Hyperion may be out of commission, but Josie and Seth know they have only earned a reprieve.  Seth must get Josie fully prepared, which means controlling her newfound abilities, and they need to find the other demigods before the Titans do.

But the gods are sensing a greater threat.

Only one thing is more dangerous than a bunch of starved Titans, and that’s an out-of-control Apollyon. The aether in Josie is drawing Seth in deeper, and when lust mixes with love and gives way to power, he knows being close to her is not only dangerous to her, but to everyone around them, but letting her go requires a level of selflessness that just isn’t Seth’s style.

The paths taken in the past are becoming the roads of the future.

Just as chaos breaks out, familiar faces from the past return, complicating the already strained bond between Josie and Seth, and when the danger from the Titans erupts with devastating consequences, the dark allure of power calls to Seth again, but this time Josie might not be able to pull him back.

And when the struggle between power and love becomes the deadliest battleground, there may be no salvation.

Review
This book begins right where the first one ended. Seth and Josie decided to give their relationship a try. Josie is awakened as a demigod and she is training to become stronger and control her powers.

What is this book all about
In this book we continue Seth and Josies story. Josie is training to become stronger and to control her powers. She and Seth are growing closer together but there is still something that is holding Seth back. Things are getting more and more tense at the covenant as the pures and the halfs are fighting amongst themselves. Not only that, the Titans are still lurking around waiting to attack.
Seth and Josie are trying to find the other demi-gods so that they can fight the Titans for once and for all. The thing is, they can't do it alone. They need the help of other demi-gods to track and protect the other born demigods. Will Seth be able to deal when he has to look the consequence of his action in the eye? Or will his resentment though wards himself keep him and Josie from being together, from being happy?
The war between the greeks and the titans are far from over. Their will be a price to pay, the question is what is the price and are Seth and Josie willing to pay or will it destroy them forever.

What did I love about this book.
I felt so bad for Seth. The way he feels about himself is heart breaking. He acts all confident and cocky but deep down he is a broken man. He deserves to be happy and so does Josie. They are so good together.
I loved seeing Alex and Aiden again. It's great to see them so happy.
The one thing I loved, maybe the most, is when Josie stood up for Seth. It really showed how much she loves him.
I can't wait to read the third book! March can't come soon enough.

Review
Expected way more from it. Didn't like the writing style. It felt rushed. It didn't feel set up properly. The characters, and the setting wasn't properly introduced. The characters weren't developed and they didn't grow. It just didn't grab my attention. I really couldn't get in to it and I feel like I really tried.
Maybe if I read the series that this book is a spin off from, then I'd felt different regarding character introduction etc, but I didn't. I might be alone in this because this book has high rating here on goodreads. It might just be my state of mind right now. Anyhow don't let my review keep you from reading this book just because I don't like it, you might.

Review "A Court of Thorns and Roses Series by Sarah J. Maas"

A Court of Thorns and Roses ( A Court of Thorns and Roses #1)
Feyre is a huntress.

She thinks nothing of slaughtering a wolf to capture its prey. But, like all mortals, she fears what lingers mercilessly beyond the forest. And she will learn that taking the life of a magical creature comes at a high price...

Imprisoned in an enchanted court in her enemy's kingdom, Feyre is free to roam but forbidden to escape. Her captor's body bears the scars of fighting, and his face is always masked - but his piercing stare draws her ever closer. As Feyre's feeling for Tamlin begin to burn through every warning she's been told about his kind, an ancient, wicked shadow grows.

Feyre must find a way to break a spell, or lose her heart forever.

Review
I was debating if I should start this series or tackle my tbr pile for Apollycon. Well obviously I chose reading this series and I loved it. It is totally different from Throne of Glass but I loved in non the less.

What is this book about.
This book focuses on Feyre. She is a human huntress. Her family lives in poverty. She is the only one providing for her father, and two sisters. While hunting she killed a wolf, not knowing that the wolf was actually fae. And that by doing so she signed her own life away.
A great warrior shapeshifting fae came to claim her in the middle of the night. She has two choices die or come and live with him for the rest of her live.
This is the beginning of Feyre's journey.  As she's getting accustomed to living with immortal fae, she learns that there is a sickness claiming the land. And as it turns out she might be the one to save all of Prythian. Will Feyre figure out the game the high lords are playing and will she be able to win and save them all? Or will she break during the process....

What did I love about this book
I loved the building of this world. I really liked Feyre's  journey. I do feel like the first part of the book was a bit slow but I understand why it was necessary. Sarah does a good job of building a world, giving enough details that it paints the picture without is being to dragged out. The phase of the book really changed during the last part of the book. It's when all the action happened.
I find it hard to write a review because I feel different about this book than I did when I first finished it. The next book changed how I feel about this one. I still love it don't get me wrong but I look at the characters differently now.

A Court of Mist and Fury ( A Court of Thorns and Roses #2)
Feyre is immortal.

After rescuing her lover Tamlin from a wicked Faerie Queen, she returns to the Spring Court possessing the powers of the High Fae. But Feyre cannot forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin's people - nor the bargain she made with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court.

As Feyre is drawn ever deeper into Rhysand's dark web of politics and passion, war is looming and an evil far greater than any queen threatens to destroy everything Feyre has fought for. She must confront her past, embrace her gifts and decide her fate.

She must surrender her heart to heal a world torn in two.

Review
"To the people who look at the stars and wish, Rhys" "To the stars who listen- and the dream that are answered"

I really loved this book. Especially the last 3/4 of the book. For me that's when the story really started. I feel like the first book was a set up, it painted a picture of the world were in. I just loved Rhysand and his court. How well did his character develop. I also loved the change we see in Fyre.

What is this book about
This book starts right of where the last one ended. Fyre saved everyone and she is getting accustomed to being immortal. She thought she would be happy now that she can start her live with Tamlin. Only she isn't, she feels trapped and the horrors of her time under the mounting left serious scars. Not only that Tamlin isn't dealing well with the events that happened as well. He takes protecting to a whole new level. He puts "protecting' her above everything else, above her own wants and needs.
And then there is Rhysand, the gorgeous high lord of the nightcourt. Fyre still made a bargain with him, one week per month for the rest of her live she has to spend with him. Fyre thought she new Rhysand. She expected the cunning man she met under the mountain, but is there more to him than meets the eye? Fyre thought that Tamlin was her forever, but is that still true? Will she be able to live, trapped in a pretty tower only to be admired, a trophy or will she grow and be as fierce as she can be and be free.

What did I love
Rhysand, I just love Rhysand. There is so much more to him than expected in Thorns of Roses. We really get to know him. I also loved how Fyre changed in this book. She really grew and got to know herself. She grew more confident to stand up for what she wants. She learned what and who was good for her and who and what isn't. She really tried to heal her broken mind and heart with the help and support of Rhysand and his court.
That ending made me crave the next book. It wasn't as heartbreaking as Empire of Storms though but it left me wanting. I just need to know what happens next.
