Review "The Final KO by Jessica Florence

I fight for a living.

Which makes finding a decent guy hard when you're a female MMA fighter. None of them have been my equal. I yearn for a man who can push me to reach new heights and challenge me. A man who will treat me like a lady then lift me up by my ass and impale me against the wall.

But when Arson Kade, MMA's top fighter and notorious manwhore declares he's that man for me I have my doubts. Any sane woman would.

There seems to be more to Arson than the rumors that surround him, but will it make me fall hard or run for the hills?
I know I've got no choice but to hold on for the ride

It's the main event and my heart's on the line
But will it be the Final KO?

Review:
This was a quick and easy read but I expected, no wanted more. It was an insta love story but not quite. There where some moments where Arson pushed the limits a bit, well they would be my limits. But overall it worked for both of them.

What is this book about:
Arson and Rayne are both MMA fighters. One night after Arson watches Rayne fight and she gets injured really badly. He admires her strength and passion and wants her immediately. But he knows that he isn't good enough for her so he does whatever he needs to become the man he deserves.
A year later that moment has arrives. Arson and Rayne finally meets and they hit it off. Unbeknownst to Rayne, Arson wanted her for a while. Things are moving quite fast between the two of them but there is a secret that is hanging over them. The past always has a way of catching up with you.

What did I like/love:
I liked Arson, he was a charming and funny guy. Rayne was a nice girl as well, she is a bad ass.
I liked that Arson was willing to work to become the man he wanted to be, the man he thought Rayne deserved.

Review "Jock Row by Sara Ney"

Scarlett is always the sensible one: The sober driver. The planner. The one holding your hair back while you're worshiping the porcelain gods.

Week-after-week, she visits Jock Row with her friends—the universities hottest party scene and breeding ground for student athletes. And if keeping her friends out of trouble, and guys out of their pants, was a sport, she'd be the star athlete.

Being a well known jock-blocker gets her noticed for all the wrong reasons; just like that, she's banned from Jock Row. NO GUY WANTS A GIRL AROUND WHO KEEPS THEIR JOCK FRIENDS FROM GETTING LAID.

"Rowdy" Wade is the hot shot short-stop for the universities baseball team—and the unlucky bastard who drew the short straw: keep little Miss Goody Two-Shoes out of the Baseball House.

But week-after-week Scarlett returns, determined to get inside.

Favorite Quote: “I just bought a new book, and I’ve been waiting for it to release for nine months – nine! That’s a damn eternity in romance novel years. You’re lucky I dragged myself off the couch.”

Review:
This was a cute read. Nothing much really does happen though. But it was funny. It had some awkward situations but also some great humor.
Overall it was an easy read, nothing to exciting but nice overall.

What is this book about:
This book is about nerdy and a tad awkward college student Scartlett. One night she is going with her friends to a frat party. She is being quite the c*ck blocker which results with her banned from the frat house and Rowdy is the one that is tasked with kicking her out. Scarlett and Rowdy hit it off and spend the night talking out on the front porch.
However Scarlett is determined to go back and Rowdy is determined to keep her out out the frat house. Resulting in them sitting on the frat house porch every Saturday night, talking and playing never have I ever.

What did I like/love:
I liked how Scarlett and Rowdy's connection formed over time. It was a true friends to lovers story.
Scarlett was a bit weird sometimes but it was nice to see that she accepted herself and loves herself for who she is.
It was also nice to see that eventhough Rowdy is a jock he isn't portrayed as stupid or acts mean.

Review "Witness to Passion by Naima Simone'

Review:
I loved it! What a nice surprise. Lately I didn't have much luck in finding amazing books but this one was really good. It had fun banter, great characters, great chemistry and a good story.
Fallon was really sassy and I loved it and it was clear that Shane was into her but was holding himself back.

What is this book about:
Fallon doesn't have the best of luck. While her parents where rich and they never had to struggle to get around, she wasn't exactly wanted. Her mother is on her 5th (or so) marriage and her father is rather distant. Anyhow, she remembers lusting after her best friends brother, Shane, since forever but after a disastrous kiss, well the kiss was great but Shane's reaction not so much, she knew it would never happen.
So yeah Fallon never had the greatest birthdays either, waiting for her father to show up on one, having her mother go on a cruise with her new husband....without her, getting rejected by her crush, and now this one. Witnessing a gang related murder and getting threatened by the killer.
Shane runs his own security company after he retired from the military, with some friends, and when he hears about what happened to Fallon from his sister he is pissed that Fallon didn't contact him herself. The police are underfunded and understaffed and are not doing a great job seeing that Fallon's identity was leaked to the gang that wants her dead for talking. He is going to make sure Fallon stay's save whether she want's his protection or not. What Shane didn't expect was for his restraint to be tested as much as it is while he is around Fallon.

What did I like/love:
I loved the interaction between Fallon and Shane. There was some great sass and great chemistry between them. The suspense wasn't there all that much but just enough to keep things interesting. I had my suspicions on who was the leak but I'm glad the author fitted in that twist.

His elegant client, Sayer, makes him feel like a Neanderthal in denim, but despite the many hints that he’s been dropping to get to know her better, she seems oblivious to his charms.

Just as things finally start to heat up, Zeb’s past comes back to haunt him and he needs Sayer’s professional help to right a wrong and to save more than himself. As these opposites dig in for the fight of their lives, fire and ice collide in an unstoppable explosion of steam

Review:
I bought this book on a whim. I originally planned on reading another book from Jay for Apollycon but my eyes fell on this one and I decided to read this book instead. I am glad I did. I really liked it. When I started reading this book I was sure I would give it 5 stars and that I would buy it to get signed. Sadly something happened that took that feeling away from me. Nothing bad! Nothing like that, just something I personally don't like that much. If you want to know what then have a look at the spoiler section above.
Other than that, I still really enjoyed this book. Zeb is a great guy, he is loyal, strong, and quite charming. I liked Sayer as well. I could relate to her and what she struggled with.

What is this book about:
Sayer is the sister of Rowdy, who is from the Marked Man series. She is a lawyer and when she found out she had a brother she dropped everything and moved to be closer to him. She meets Zeb, a friend of Rowdy's, who has his own reconstruction company. Zeb works really well with his hands (pun intended), he buys and restores houses. Sayer hired him to restore her house. Ever since meeting him Sayer couldn't help but think about the big and hot guy. But she knows it could never work between them. That doesn't stop Zeb from pursuing her anyway. Zeb want more than just her though, he got himself in a situation and needs Sayer's expertise to help him.

What did I like/love:
I love Zeb. He is such a great guy. Yes he has been through allot in his past but he has done his best to move past that. I could totally relate to what he did and why. Anyhow, he was really charming and very patient. Instead of going after Sayer relentlessly he gave he the time she needed and made her come after him if she wanted him. I really liked that. Zeb deserved to be chosen. And it really shows that you can't force people to get better or see them the way you see them. You can support them and be there for them but at some point they have to do it themselves.
I really liked the other characters in the books as well. Makes me want to continue the Marked Men series. I started it but haven't read past book one yet, don't hate me.
I'm also curious about Poppy's story. She deserves a happy ending.

Favorite Quote: "Stop thinking. Start living."

Review:
I hoped for more, sadly this book didn't deliver for me. Sydney was suppose to be a bad ass detective, a fact we where told over and over again but to me it seemed more talk than her actually showing that she was a bad ass.
Some things where weird as well. Sydney said she didn't like working with CPAP, that she didn't trust paranormals. But she had no issue sleeping with one of them and visiting their (sex) club regularly to hook up with a wolf shifter. She also stated a couple of times she didn't know much about the paranormals but refuses to work with CPAP to solve the crime. She also had the tendency to run away or run into something without thinking. When people warned her about the strength of the vampires and stuff and that she could get hurt she got offended, ran in, and got hurt. Like it doesn't make you less strong if you think first. And it's not an insult if someone warns you or tries to look out for you. Vampires ( and other paranormal ) are after all stronger than humans.
Kade didn't do much for me either. I didn't feel the chemistry between Kade and Sydney.
Their sex scenes weren't that great either. They talked about kink allot, she went to a sex club before to hook up with a wolf shiftier, she went with the vampires to a bdsm club wearing leather, fishnets, and a see through top (no bra) but all they said during sex was make love to me. Not fuck me or anything like that. It just didn't work for me sadly.

What is this book about:
This book is about detective Sydney. When bodies start to show up in doll like states, she knows the culprit isn't human. However when CPAP investigator Kade show up she is immediately distrustful thowards him. But the deeper she gets into the case the more she realizes that she needs him to solve the case.

What did I like/love:
Some of the side characters where fun. The idea

What did I dislike/hate:
I summed it up pretty well above I think.

Review:
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but somehow it didn't fully meet my expectations but on the other hand it did? It's weird. I wished the suspense part was worked out a bit better.
The reason why Angel cut Gabe out of her live was really stupid. I get it upset her but to cut him out completely for that was a bit of an over reaction. They could have talked it out easily within a few minutes. Instead they spend 15 years mulling over it. Totally unnecessary.
Other than some stupid drama it was fun watching Angel and Gabe interact. Angel was quite stubborn and made some stupid choices but other than that, it was fun.
The side characters where fun as well. Dino was quite interesting.

What is this book about:
Angel and Gabe where childhood best friends but one event tore their friendship apart. 15 years later Angel didn't expect to be on Gabe doorstep needing help.
Angel witnessed something she shouldn't have and that put her on the radar of some very bad people. Begin ex military and owning his own security firm makes Gabe the right guy for the job.
Despite the pent up emotion, sparks still fly between them.

What did I like/love:
I liked the idea of the book. It was a quick read. Gabe was a good guy and I did like Angel. The side characters where fun as well.

What did I dislike/hate:
Didn't like the unnecessary drama. I mean I expected it but could have done without it. It was to predictable.

Review "Until I fall by Claudia Burgoa"

Aspen
I gave my heart to a Navy SEAL.
He took it with him to his grave.
Eleven years later, ignoring the yawning void is as automatic as breathing. Working brutal hours, dating a comfortably commitment-phobic guy, hanging with my best friends. Anything until exhaustion—or an extra glass of wine—claims my consciousness.

My neighbor’s handsome, enigmatic son invades my comfort zone.
He says he’s a tattoo artist. But Anderson Hawkins’ piercing green eyes, mastery of the short answer, weird schedule, and military ink tell a different story.
His touch ignites a long-dead flame inside me. A flame I’m afraid to examine too closely, even as I’m drawn to its heat.

Anderson

I retired from Delta Force
Now I work at a high-intelligence security agency
But working undercover isn’t the adrenaline rush it used to be.
For one thing, my Mom’s illness shifted my priorities to finding a way to save her. For another, her neighbor next door, whose prickly defenses belie the unflinchingly caring heart underneath, has slipped under my skin. Now my mission is to convince her it’s safe to unlock her heart. Because I’m ready to give her mine.

Review:
I had high expectation for this book. I really looked forward to reading this one. The synopsis sounded really good and it sounded like it could be my kind of read. Sadly it disappointing me. The story didn't drag me in, I couldn't connect with the characters. For me it was the writing style that didn't work for me. It felt like I was working my way through a 500 page novel while it's only 278 pages. Nothing really happend and it felt like the story didn't come across well on paper. Some things just didn't work well and the story just didn't flow that well. I hope that makes sense.

What is this book about:
Aspen lost her fiance and since then she closed her self of from most things in her live. She is all about work, sleep, drink and repeat. She is still alive but she isn't living. That is until she met her neighbors son Anderson, he brought something back to live in her she buried long ago. She doesn't want to start feeling again, she doesn't want to let someone in only to lose them. But Anderson isn't one to easily give up.

What did I like/love:
Can't think of anything I really liked or loved. It was all quite bland for me. I really wanted to love it but the story fell flat.

What did I dislike/hate:
Sadly I didn't like the writing style. It felt like the author kept adding details later on as an after thought. And it just didn't work. The story could have been allot shorter and it didn't have that many pages to begin with. It felt like the book was like 500 pages but it wasn't. Nothing really happend. The story dragged allot. I'm sorry to say that the book didn't meet my expectations. I was expecting a different kind of story I suppose.

Favorite Quote: “Each story needs to be heard."

Review:
This book was intense. You definitely need to be in the mood to read this. And you have to be mentally prepared for this book. I felt so bad for Bailey reading what happend to her. And the thought that this happens to so many women out there is, well it gets you to think.
This book handled terrible issues so well. It shows that problems don't go away in a heartbeat and that it takes time to overcome trauma.

What is this book about:
Bailey didn't have it easy growing up. Her drug addicted parents never cared for her and certainly didn't look after her or love her. She thought things would get better for her when she met her husband at collage. She hoped she'd get the love she always hoped for. But she is mistaken. After they got married he started to change. His behavior started to get worse and worse. See the trigger warning spoiler if you want more details. It is terrible what happend to her. After one terrible event she got the courage to get out with the help of her friend. She ran away from him.
On one of her stops, she gets a bar tending job in order to get some money so she can move on. She didn't count on staying in this small town. She didn't count on meeting people that would grow to become her friends and family, and she certainly didn't count on the hot, charming, and protective owner of the bar, Jaxon, to be interested in her. But more importantly she didn't count on being interested in him as well? She didn't know what it could feel like to be loved and respected and not be afraid of a man.
Sadly, the dark cloud that is her husband is still hanging over her, she knows with his connections it's only a matter of time that he will find her and this time she won't get out of it alive.

What did I like/love:
I loved Jackson, he was such a perfect man. He was respectful and respective and protective of the people he loved. He has been through his own fair share of pain in the past but it made him who he is. And the way he is with Bailey is just perfect.
I loved Bailey as well, she went through so much and my heart went out for her, I wished I could have jumped in the book and help her.
The supporting characters where great as well. I really want to learn their stories was well.

review: "Protecting Alabama by Susan Stoker"

Alabama didn’t have a good start to life. Emotionally and physically abused by her mama, Alabama spent her high school years in foster care. People let her down, time after time, and she’d learned to rely on only herself.

Christopher “Abe” Powers earned his nickname because he tolerated nothing less than absolute honesty from the people around him. Finding the bar scene stale and having watched his friend and teammate, Wolf, find the woman of his dreams, Abe was determined to find someone to share his life with too.

Alabama and Abe had no idea their paths would cross and their prayers would be answered, but like most things in life, nothing is ever as easy as it seems at first. Two words would change both their lives and they’d have to fight hard for their happy ever after.

Review:
I was so excited about this book! I liked the first book and I liked abe in that one. I liked the summary of this book as well. I am a sucker for a character with a tortured past. I love watching them grow and overcoming their trauma.
Sadly this book didn't deliver what I expected. I am really disappointing with how Abe acted, I honestly expected more from him. And I wish that Alabama made him grovel a bit more. He got of easy, and for everyone to push them back together. And push her to forgive him was a bit disappointing.
I was hoping for a bit more suspense in the story, like we had with the first one. And there was a little in the beginning, I remember thinking that the story got of a great start but after that nothing much happened for a while.
I felt like the author had a chance to really show growth and healing in a character with great trauma but only if she took a bit more time with it. Not have Alabama get over het trauma in no time, or so it almost seemed.

It wasn't a terrible book but I was a bit disappointing.

What is this book about:
This book is about Alabama and Christopher or Abe as he is called by his team. They meet on a party for Christophers (then) girlfriends company. The party doesn't go as planned when the office catches fire. Alabama helps Abe and helps save lots of people when guiding them to a different exit. After that Abe breaks up with his then girlfriend, something he was planning to do for a while, and pursues Alabama. He never had to work so hard persuading a woman to go out with him and it's refreshing. Slowly Alabama opens up bit by bit but just when things seem to be going great, live gets in the way. This is the time for Abe to prove to Alabama that people do care about her, but can he do it.

What did I like/love:
I did like the setting and the world building. It was fun seeing Mathew (wolf) and Caroline again.
I liked the beginning of the book, it gotten of from a great start. I liked Alabama just fine, I really felt for her. I wish she had a bit more backbone and stood her ground a bit longer. I really felt angry on her behalf and I wished she was a well.
I love that the team wanted to help Alabama and took her in as their own.

What did I dislike/hate:
I am so mad at Abe. I liked him in the beginning but her really crossed a line. The way he talked in the beginning wasn't to my liking either but he made up for it later or so I thought.
I didn't like his crappy excuse and that people pushed Alabama to forgive him. I didn't like that she ended up forgiving him so quickly. He really deserved to grovel a lot more.
Abe went on and on that he wanted to dump his then girlfriend but it wasn't the time and place for it, that he would still be respectful and stuff till there was a right time to break it off. But then picked a terrible time to break it off anyway.

Rating:
2 it was decent stars
