Review "Painted Faces by L.H. Cosway"

Come forth with an open mind, for an unconventional tale of love..

Dublin native Freda Wilson considers herself to be an acquired taste. She has a habit of making offensive jokes and speaking her mind too often. She doesn't have the best track record with first impressions, which is why she gets a surprise when her new neighbour Nicholas takes a shine to her.

Nicholas is darkly handsome, funny and magnetic, and Freda feels like her black and white existence is plunged into a rainbow of colour when she's around him. When he walks into a room he lights it up, with his quick wit and charisma. He is a travelling cabaret performer, but Freda doesn't know exactly what that entails until the curtains pull back on his opening night.

She is gob-smacked and entirely intrigued to see him take to the stage in drag. Later on, Nicholas asks her if she would like to become his show assistant. Excited by the idea, she jumps at the chance. Soon she finds herself immersed in a world of wigs, make-up and high heels, surrounded by pretty men and the temptation of falling for her incredibly beautiful employer.

In this story of passion and sexual discovery, Nicholas and Freda will contend with jealousy, emotional highs and lows, and the kind of love that only comes around once in a lifetime.

Review
Again I'm kicking myself for not reading this sooner! I mean I could have gotten this book signed when I met this author a couple of weeks ago. Not smart lisa, not smart. Anyway this book is the first one that introduced me to L.H. Cosway and I'm kicking myself even harder that I did not give it a chance two year ago because it's awesome!
I was a bit scared to read this because of the blurb. While I have nothing against drag queens, gay's etc ( been to a view gay/drag bars myself and loved rue paul's drag race) I wasn't sure if this book was for me. Well I was wrong, I have such a book hangover right now! I absolutely loved it. I gave it a change because I absolutely love six of heart (it's still my favorite)  and I'm glad I did.
I love that this author created an unconventional love story and wrote is so good! She really sold it and really gave a strong message. Love is for everyone and it can be found in places you didn't know to look. It's not to judge a person on their outside because they might hide beautiful secrets. It really tells you to have an open mind, and if you do great things can happen to you.

What is this book about
This book is about Dublin native Freda or fred as she likes to be called. She got a culinaire degree but doesn't work in the food industry, well not really. She makes the most delicious cupcakes for a local bakery and works in a second hand store. She lives together with her best friend ( who is a bit of a bitch in my opinion but oke, their relationship works for them).
Freda isn't what you'd call a perfect size two and what the media would call perfect. She is a comfortable size 12 (us 10). She is smart, witty, sarcastic and just hilarious. She learned to use her wit as a defense mechanism against bully's etc.
One day she meets Nicholas or Viv as Freda calls him , when he moves in the apartment next door. Nicholas is handsome and very beautiful at the same time. He has black hair and pretty blue eyes. He has the abs and body of an athlete. He's very witty, funny and very confident in who he is. You can either take it or leave it.  Freda and Nicholas  really connect and have great chemistry. Nicholas is very forward with what he want from Freda, put very blandly , he wants to fuck her. Well he sure isn't as gay as Freda thought when she met him.
Anyway Nicholas invited her to his show. He tells her he is a cabaret performer. Well he didn't lie. He is a dragqueen. Will Freda be able to look past that and trust/ recognize how she feels about him or will his profession create a wedge between them.  The fact that Nicholas has some dark skeletons in his closet doesn't help either.

What did I love about this book
I love Freda. She is so funny, I really liked her sense of humor. The same goes for Nicholas.
Ofcourse I liked nicholas, he has a great personality.
I loved the chemistry between them and how their story goes.  I might not share Freda's kink ( See Freda's dream, you'll know what I mean if you read the book) but I enjoyed it non the less.
Overall this was a very good read and I really loved it! Can't wait to read more about this author.

Review "Rusty Nailed by Alice Clayton"

In this sequel to Wallbanger, the second book in the Cocktail series, fan favorites Caroline and Simon negotiate the rollercoaster of their new relationship while house-sitting in San Francisco.

Playing house was never so much fun—or so confusing. With her boss on her honeymoon, Caroline’s working crazy long hours to keep the interior design company running—especially since she’s also the lead designer for the renovation of a gorgeous old hotel on Sausalito. So with her hotshot photographer boyfriend gallivanting all over the world for his job, she and Simon are heavy-duty into “absence makes the heart grow fonder” mode. Neither has any complaints about the great reunion sex, though! Then Simon decides he’s tired of so much travelling, and he’s suddenly home more. A lot more. And wanting Caroline home more, too. Though their friends’ romantic lives provide plenty of welcome distraction, eventually Caroline and Simon have to sort their relationship out. Neither wants “out of sight, out of mind,” but can they create their own happy mid-ground cliché?

Review
I'm kinda kicking myself for not buying the book, and others in this series while I met the author a couple of weeks ago. I could have gotten them all signed.

This book is the second in the cocktail series and continues caroline and simons story. We really get to see how their relationship develops overtime and how they grow as individuals and in the relationship.
I really liked this book, it was a tad different from the first book because we don't have the build up and the sexual frustration and tension. Don't worry there is still sexual tension and lots of sexy times ;) I mean were talking about our wallbanger here.
I still found the story very funny but I can tell that the story matured a tiny bit. We also find out more about Simons past.
I really enjoyed how Simon and Caroline made their own relationship work and negotiated how said relationship was going to work for them.

Overall I really enjoyed the story and I will keep on reading. I'm really glad I gave this series a second change because I really like it. I want to read about other characters and ofcourse the final  book in Caroline's and Simons relationship!

About I’ll Get You:

IllGetYou1.6 (1)

PTA president Kelli Peters had a normal, happy life in Orange County, California, where she volunteered at her daughter’s school, carpooled, and took care of her family. When a school parent angrily accused Kelli of keeping her son waiting during the afterschool pick-up, it appeared to be a simple confrontation with an overprotective mother. Kelli soon learned, however, that she was the target of a twisted plot against her that involved drugs, lies, schemes, and a campaign to ruin her life. The vendetta led to reputations tarnished, careers lost, secret lives uncovered, two parents in jail, families destroyed, and a $5.7 million dollar civil judgment.

“I’ll Get You!” Drugs, Lies, and the Terrorizing of a PTA Mom is the true story of an ordinary American woman who survived an evil conspiracy that turned her life upside down and shook her hometown to its core.

Exclusive Excerpt:

In some ways, Kelli Peters was born to be a volunteer. Once she started helping in the kindergarten class, she never looked back. She passed out papers, took children to the bathroom, answered questions, showed the children how tie their shoes, and helped them write their ABCs.

“It was trial by fire,” Kelli says. “Kindergarten had thirty kids that year, so Mrs. Jones, the teacher, really depended on us. The kids were so needy at that age. They cried for their moms, so I was always holding one or another and comforting them. When they weren’t crying or asking to go to the bathroom, they were wiping boogers on the walls or running around like crazy monkeys. They just wanted to play all the time, and we had to balance that with trying to teach them something. I was constantly cleaning the classroom or chasing one of them down or soothing wounded feelings or tending to boo-boos. It was nonstop, organized chaos, but I loved it.”

During that first year of volunteering at Plaza Vista, she would walk through the classroom every day to have little kids with eager faces and bright eyes run up to her and give her hugs. They clamored to tell her about their days, their pets, or their latest interests. She pulled them close and listened to them pour out their hearts. Her own heart filled to the brim to see all of these wonderful little human beings talking over each other to share their interests with Miss Kelli.

“I was just an ordinary person,” Kelli says, “but they made me feel so special. I loved the feeling of helping children and being part of their learning processes and growing up. There was no better feeling than being part of their lives. I didn’t care that I wasn’t being paid. The reward was so much greater.”

At the end of the year, Kelli had t-shirts made that said, “I Survived Volunteering in Mrs. Jones’ Class.” The parent volunteers wore them around school, garnering knowing smiles and laughter of fellow parents and staff. Everyone knew that if a mom survived volunteering in kindergarten, she could survive anything.

The following year, Kelli again volunteered in the classroom, this time for first grade. That was the year she was first asked to run for the PTA.

“I’d successfully survived being a volunteer in kindergarten,” Kelli says, “and still showed up to volunteer in the classroom in first grade. Some parents had quit forever after the kindergarten year. Only the strong survived!” She laughs at the memory.

Kelli was not only shocked to be asked to run for the PTA, but surprised to hear herself say yes.

“I loved volunteering and always said yes to everything,” she says. “If someone needed help with something, I said yes. If they needed a parent to bring food for a party, I said yes. If a teacher needed help in her classroom, I said yes. Then I was asked if I would be interested in running for secretary of the PTA…and I naturally said yes. But then I immediately second-guessed myself. I was concerned that I didn’t have the experience. I didn’t think I would win. In my mind, I thought they just needed people to run.” She shakes her head at the memory. “Well, I had no idea that I was the only person running for the office of secretary. So guess what? I won.”

Once Kelli won the seat, her already busy life ratcheted up.

Franka

“You need to leave,” I declared.

His brows drew together a moment before his expression showed clearly that comprehension had dawned.

Sadly, comprehension might have dawned but he didn’t leave.

He crouched by the bed and offered in a soft voice, “You need me to carry you to the other room so you can have a bit of privacy?”

Dear goddess.

He thought I needed a chamber pot.

But…

What was happening to my face?

Dear goddess!

The heat I felt in my cheeks could be nothing other than me blushing.

I didn’t blush. I’d never blushed. Not even when I’d set about seducing my first lover at age sixteen.

I needed to be quit of this man as soon as possible.

“No…I…do…not,” I bit out.

“Sure?” he asked kindly.

“I need you to leave, Noctorno,” I used his full name in an effort to irritate, something that worked if the flare in his eyes was any indication, “so Josette can prepare me. We’re away to Kristian’s this morning.”

Another drawing of his brows before he asked, “What?”

“After my toilette, Josette and I are to my sleigh so we can begin our journey to my brother’s home.”

His eyes got bigger as his mouth inquired peculiarly, “Are you high?”

“No,” I answered his ridiculous question unnecessarily, “Indeed, I’m low. As you can see since I’m lying abed.”

For a second he just stared at me.

Then he threw his head back and burst into loud, deep, beautiful laughter.

I wanted to throw something at him.

Unfortunately, in my current position, this was not an option open to me.

“I fail to see what’s amusing,” I noted.

He controlled his mirth only to mutter, “I’ll explain it later.” He went on more distinctly, “Frannie, you’re not goin’ to your brother’s today. Or tomorrow. Or until you’re fit. Then, maybe Valentine will spirit you there, or whatever the fuck that’s called. But for the foreseeable future, your ass is in that bed and you’re resting so you can heal.”

Well!

Who did he think he was, telling me what I would or would not do?

“As you’ve determined,” I began, “this is not the first time I’ve been in this condition so I do believe that I know best what I’m capable of and…”

I stopped speaking because he came slightly out of his crouch so he could put his face into my face and he was no longer looking mirthful.

He was looking angry.

Very angry.

“That was when you had no one lookin’ out for you but that’s not the case anymore. So this is how it’s gonna be,” he announced.

He then, to my shock, irritation and outrage, announced how it was going to be.

Like he had the right to tell me how it was going to be!

Kristin Ashley - headshotAbout Kristen Ashley:

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn’t taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen’s Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing’s changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she’s blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

Review "Willing Captive by Belle Aurora"

Delilah "Lily" Flynn is used to her drab existence. Lily's been living it for twenty two years. Her boring life is suddenly turned on its head when she's rudely kidnapped from her bedroom. Or so she thinks. Nox Taylor is far too high up in his field to be assigned a babysitting job. There's nothing more he wants than to complete his mission so he can be rid of the smartass tomboy, Lily. Day after day, Nox watches Lily and her strange ways. She's unlike any woman he's ever met. Getting close to the girl is purely for her own protection...right? Lily never imagined she'd make her first real friends in captivity. To what lengths would she go to keep them?

Review
I loved the previous books I've read by Belle but I don't think this one is as good as the others. The story wasn't as captivating. It held my attention long enough to want to finish it but that was it. I felt the need to skip through things, willing the story to hurry up.

What is this book about
The story is about Nox, a man that basiclly doesn't exist. He can be hired to protect people and things like that. He works for an organisation that doesn't exist, meaning he doesn't.  He is hired to protect Lily. Lily is the daughter of a rich business man. Due to recent treats he hires Nox to 'kidnapp' her and take her to a unknown location for save keeping. Lily doesn't go quietly but in the end there is nothing she can do.
While being hold 'captive' she learns more about her own past and the threats that are being made against her and her family.
Will Lily and Nox be able to keep things professional or living together make them grow closer to each other....

What do I think
I like this book. It was oke but it didn't steal and keep my attention like other books I've read from Bella. I expected more from this story but to me it didn't deliver that wel.
I don't know what els to say other than overall it was oke.

Review "The way back to me by Anne Mercier"

She used to be perky, fun, and full of life—everything I hated about girls and their bullshit exterior. People called her bubbly; I called her “fake-as-hell.”

The edgy, dark, lonely girl in front of me was not the Olivia Brennan I knew from high school—far from it, actually. I knew the story—the whole town knew the story, we witnessed it all. It happened in the blink of an eye and the girl we knew was gone.

But I refuse to watch it anymore—I can’t stand it. I’m going to fix it—fix her. It’s time I showed Olivia her way back…Back to the girl she used to be.

Review
I am a bit sad about this book, well not the book but the series. I just finished and loved this book. It ended with a sentence that made you feel like there is going to be a second book. When I bought this book it was a standalone and I went in thinking it was. I was excited to find out there was a second book, a bit worried as well. So went and read the blurb of the second book and got a bit of a funny feeling so I went and read some review. Well to summarize them apparently Cam (the H) goes trough a 180 and is a totally different guy. Some say that the author totally butchered his character and 'ruined'the story.  I haven't read the second book so I can't tell you what I think if it but I didn't like the sound of those review ( and the spoilers) one bit.  I'm going to take their advise and think of this book a  standalone but it doesn't take away that what I've read about the second book burst my happy bubble.

So enough of the second book and my burst bubble. Don't let what I just said keep you from reading this book because it's amazing! Let me tell you what this book is all about

What is this book about
This book is about Olivia (h) and Cam (H). Olivia went through a pretty horrific and damaging experience. She was in a car crash where she broke her leg, back and sustained other injuries but not only that it killed 4 of her best friend, one of them also being her boyfriend, the love of her live. She never was the same after that. Mentally she was just as broken as her body, maybe even more.
She goes to collage and there she meets Cam. Well she already knows him. You see he bullied her in high school. He said some pretty mean things about her. He knows he did and I like that about him. He though she was as fake as they come due personal issues but finds out that she is not. He hates how she changed and wants  to give her pieces of herself back.  It isn't as easy as it sounds. Oliva is broken, and still hasn't moved passed everything that happend. Guilt is a very heavy cloak that can suffocate you if you don't find a way to lift it.
Will Cam be able to help Olivia heal and will Olivia be able to look past hers and cam's past to move forward with her live.

What did I like about this book
I liked Olivia's journey. We find out the graphic details of what she went through at the ending of the book and let me tell you that is some heavy messed up shit. I think Olivia is very strong. It shows how hard it is to move past something. And that with the help of the right people it will become a tiny bit easier.
I loved how cam was trying to fix the mistakes he made in the past. Yes he still behaved like an asshole at times but he was trying.
I really liked them together and their relationship. I'm just so sad that the spoilers from the second book ruined how I felt about them.
Overall I really enjoyed this book! Decide for yourself if you want to keep on reading after this book but don't say I didn't warn you. Well that others warned you through me... well you know what I mean

Review "The vixen and the vet by Katy Regnery"

In this modern-retelling of Beauty and the Beast, Savannah Carmichael, betrayed by an unreliable source, returns to her hometown of Danvers, Virginia with her once-promising journalism career in ruins. Given the opportunity to get back in the game by writing a patriotic human interest piece, Savannah turns her attention to the town hermit, Asher Lee, a wounded veteran who returned to Danvers eight years ago, and hasn’t been seen since.

After an IED explosion in Afghanistan took Asher’s hand and disfigured half of his face, he's lived a quiet life on the outskirts of Danvers where the locals respect his privacy…that is, until Savannah Carmichael comes calling in a borrowed sundress with a plate of homemade brownies. When Asher agrees to be interviewed by Savannah, he starts feeling things for the beautiful reporter that he hasn’t felt in years.

Misfits in small-town Danvers, Savannah and Asher create a bond right away, touching each other’s hearts in ways neither thought possible. When a terrible mistake threatens to drive them apart, they’ll have to decide if the love they found in one another’s arms is strong enough to fight for their hard-won happily ever after.

Review
I'm not sure what to write for my review because I'm not really sure how I feel about this book. I find it very hard to rate it because I just loved loved loved the main character Asher. I just love the guy. And while I like the h (heroin) in the beginning I grew to not really like her throughout the story. I love the Idea of this book and normally I find romance like this a bit to sappy but I knew what kind of book this would be when I went in, seeing as it's spin on disney's beauty and the beast.

What is this book about.
This book is about Asher (H, hero) and Savannah (h heroin). Asher is a vet, while on tour in Afghanistan he got injured pretty badly. A bomb blew of his left hand, injured his leg, and messed up his face pretty badly. After returning home he kin of became a hermit because he couldn't deal with the gasping and stares of disgust he got from the locals.
Savannah is a journalist, she worked for a pretty big news paper in new york but got screwed over and got fired. She went back home to lick her wond. She got an opportunity to get another job. For that she has to write a piece for the forth of july. She decides to write it on the local vet who got back pretty injured from the war and hasn't been seen much after that.
When Savannah and Asher met he wasn't really into letting her write her story but decided to do it after all. While they got to know each other they became friends and savannah learned that there was much more to this injured, disfigured guy. They grow closer and closer. Helping Asher to get back to the land of the living. While savannah wants to write about ashers experience in the war, his injuries and the less then warm welcome when he got back home, it isn't what the editor wants.
Savannah will have to choose about Asher and their relationship or her career...

What did I like about this book.
Well I just love asher. He is such a sweet and strong guy. He has an amazing personality. He went trough so much and deserves the world in my opinion.
Like I said I liked savannah just fine in the beginning. She was oke, don't know what more I can say about her. She i strong willed and is really going for her career which is admirable but like she said herself she can get a bit tunnel visioned about things. She made a very huge mistake close to the end of the book and I really disliked her since then. I saw it coming but I hoped she notice the mistake she was going to make ( she did but pushed it away and made excuses for herself earlier in the story) but she didn't.  She realize what she's done but it was to late. She tried to redeem herself but in my opinion she didn't. Yes she did a good thing in the end that redeemed herself in the eyes of asher, don't get me wrong it was a really good thing but not fully redeemable in my eyes. One thing I didn't like as well is that she called her self a surviver like asher but no way you are lady. Yes you went trough some not likable things so if you want to look at it like they then yes your are a survivor but no way is that like asher. No way at all, not even close.

I reaaally didn't like Savannah's sister. She was naive, annoying, selfish and acted like such a child. I didn't care much for savannah's mother either. I think its because they're very southern and I'm not used to people like that ( I live in the netherlands myself).

Review "Pennies by Pepper Winters"

“At 18 I had pennies, but money didn’t make me bold. At 19 I had dollars, but it didn’t dull the pain of being sold. At 20 I had hundreds, but then I met him and was found. At 21 I had thousands, but all I wanted was to be bound.”

“At 23 I had dollars, but life changed and made me rich. At 25 I had hundreds, but it wasn’t enough to stop my killing itch. At 27 I had thousands, but my reputation didn’t set me free. At 29 I had millions, but I met her and could finally see.”

Tasmin was killed on her 18th birthday. She had everything planned out. A psychology degree, a mother who pushed her to greatness, and a future anyone would die for. But then her murderer saved her life, only to sell her into a totally different existence.

Elder went from penniless to stinking rich with one twist of fate. His lifetime of crime and shadows of thievery are behind him but no matter the power he now wields, it’s not enough. He has an agenda to fulfill and he won’t stop until it’s complete.

But then they meet.

A beaten slave and a richly dressed thief. Money is what guided their separate fates. Money is what brought them together. And money is ultimately what destroys them.

She was poor.
He was rich.
Together…they were bankrupt.

Review
My god this book is just amazing! To me it isn't as dark as Tears of tess but it might still come. To me tears of tess was more explicit and graphic than this one.... or maybe I just gotten used to it I don't know. Anyway, how good is this book! I'm actually a bit mad at myself because now I have to wait for the second book. I wonder if I would be better of waiting for every book to be released before I started reading. Well the answer to that is maybe BUT then I wouldn't have met this strong and amazing girl prim, pimlico, Tasmin whatever, I think I'll stick with prim. Prim is one of the strongest characters I've ever met. She remained strong minded even though she could have broken down a long time ago. She kept something that is worth a whole dam lot, her voice.

What is this story about.
This story is about  Prim, well Tasmin actually, but Tasmin hasn't been Tasmin for two years. Two years ago she was sold, beaten, raped, abused, tortured, humiliated, starved, killed only to be revived again. Two years ago Prim stopped speaking, she refused to give her capture that. He has taken everything from her but not her voice.
Prim isn't the only main character in this book, Elder is also one. Elder know what it's like to have nothing but he also know how to rise from that. He is a rich business man. I'm not exactly sure what he deals in, where he came from etc. We don't know much about him actually. Other than that he is tall, has very dark hair, has mixed blood, is hot as hell, has a live like dragon tattoo on his chest and  in his own words  "I'm not the hero in this story Pimlico. I'm another villain. You'd do best to remember that".
One day Prim meets Elder when he came at the house she's kept in to do business with her "master".  They connect. Even though she doesn't speak, they communicatie well. Elder is very very good at reading people.  Prim's master doesn't take this well and finds ways to make her pay.
Is elder willing to walk away from the girl that has stolen his intress, found a way to weasel in his thoughts.  And will prim be able to survive much longer in hell or will she find a way to end it all.  If she escapes will that mean freedom or will she find herself in the hands of another captor.

What did I love about this book.
I just adore Prim. Like I said before she is one of the strongest characters I've ever met. I find her inner strength admirable. How she managed to keep going, to remain alive is beyond me.
I like Elder, he is very mysterious. I really want to know more about him, about his past, what he does.
This book sucks you in at the first page and refuses to let you go even after you've finished. I think this serie will keep me hooked long after it finishes. Pepper Winters really is a queen of dark romance.

About EMINENT LOVE

Life doesn’t always start with once upon a time.

Love doesn’t always end with happily ever after.

After spending five years with the love of my life, I did nothing to stop her from walking away. She had her reasons to leave. I had my reasons to stay. But a year later, the realization of loss hits me, and I’ll stop at nothing to fix it. I leave everything behind to drive across the country to win her back, and I refuse to accept anything other than fulfilling old promises.

But the only certainty in life is: nothing is as expected.

The most valuable lessons don’t often revolve around a fairytale ending—frequently, they come from hurt and healing. They come from the kind of personal growth love offers. The mending of your heart, your soul, and your life. And every once in a while, you find the greatest gifts in the packages you never expected to open.

I’ve done nothing for a year other than think of her and remember how good I’d had it. How healing her love was for me. How I’d never find anything resembling it again. Not like I’d tried, but that didn’t mean anything. Nothing had meaning without her. Nothing.

I inhaled deeply, my heart hammering away…and I pressed call. My breathing ceased as it rang. Once. Twice. Three times. And then her voice came through the line. Such a soft sound, like a melody. Warm and soothing, just like her. The air blew out harshly past my lips as I readied myself to speak, to recite the words I’d held onto for a year. Although, before my lungs completely deflated, my breath caught in my chest, burning me from the inside out.

“Hey, you’ve reached Layne. Well, not really. You’ve reached my voicemail. I wasn’t able to get to my phone fast enough, but if you leave a message, I’ll call ya right back.” With my eyes closed, I could picture her perfectly. Her smile was evident in her voice, in the way she spoke with a lilt at the end of her words.

    Pain.

That’s what listening to her voice filled me with. Immense torture. I couldn’t even form enough thought to come up with something to say. When the beep sounded, I didn’t speak. One second. Two. Three. Four seconds of complete silence dragged out before I finally ended the call.

“Fucking stupid idiot,” I said aloud as I slammed the phone down on the table. My face immediately fell into my hands. Of course she didn’t answer. She had no reason to. She’d said all she needed to say in the email she’d sent about a month after we’d broken up. An email I’d disregarded for weeks before finding the patience to open it.

I should’ve responded then.

I should’ve done something.

However, I chose to dismiss her and the entire situation. It had been easier at the time because I’d allowed the fury inside to burn stronger until any ounce of compassion regarding her or our life together had been decimated, charred beyond recognition. Turned into ashes and then carried away by the wind.

About Leddy Harper

Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped.

She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters.

She is now a mother of three girls, leaving her husband as the only man in a house full of females.

The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.

BeautifullyDecadent_Amazon_iBooksAvery Collins has just landed her dream job, pastry chef for the posh-Manhattan restaurant, Clover. Growing up in the system, Rafe managed to survive his childhood and now has a job he enjoys, a house he's restoring and a tight circle of friends. He's even working on reconciling with his dad, both eager to put the past in the past.
