Cover Reveal: "His Light in the Dark by L.A. Fiore"

The Cover is FINALLY Here!
Check out His Light in the Dark by L. A. Fiore

Synopsis:
My first memory was of a slap, hard across the face: the sting on my cheek and the jarring of my bones as I slammed back into my bed. It was my dad who had hit me.
I had been four.
Most of my memories were much of the same and no one ever saw, no one ever fought to help, no one ever cared.
Then we moved.
My new neighbor cared, rescued the twelve-year-old I had been from a beating. Always thought I'd suffer the nightmare alone, I was wrong.
Mace Donati saved me that day in all the ways a person could be saved.
And his daughter, Mia, she became the friend I had always wanted, my conscience when my own faltered, the light that led me home when I had lost my way.
The girl who grew into the only woman I would ever love.
But when you realize you're more like your father than the good people who took you in and gave you a home, the only way to return their kindness is to let them go.
I let them go, got so far lost in the shadows I couldn't remember who I was anymore. Mia never gave up on me. She fought for me, kept the light on so I'd find my way back.
And when I did, life threw us a curveball. I had to hurt Mia in order to save her
But when my past comes back to haunt me and I almost lose her, I'm ready to fight for her...fight to find a way back into her heart while keeping the demons from my past from finishing what they started.

Teaser Tuesday "The Baller by Vi Keeland"

 Summary

The first time I met Brody Easton was in the men’s locker room.
It was my first interview as a professional sportscaster.
The famed quarterback decided to bare all.
And by all, I don’t mean he told me any of his secrets.
No. The arrogant ass decided to drop his towel, just as I asked the first question. On camera.
The Super Bowl MVP quickly adopted a new hobby—screwing with me.
When I pushed back, he shifted from wanting to screw with me, to wanting to screw me.
But I don’t date players.
And it’s not because I’m one of the few women working in the world of professional football.
I’d date an athlete.
It’s the other kind of player I don’t date.
You know the type. Good looking, strong, cocky, always looking to get laid.

Brody Easton was the ultimate player.
Every woman wanted to be the one to change him.
But the truth was, all he needed was a girl worth changing for.
Turned out, I was that girl.
Simple right?
Let’s face it. It never is.
There’s a story between once upon a time and happily ever after…
And this one is our

Intrigued? I know I am. Here are some teasers....

Interview with Author L.A. Fiore

L.A Fiore it the author of the  Beautifully Damaged series, Harrington, Main series and the veil saga. Today I'll be posting an interview with her. I haven't read any of her books yet but Beautifully Damaged has been sitting on my tbr pile and I think it won't be on there much longer.

Author L. A. Fiore

Writing Questions:
Why do you think readers are drawn to what you write?
I try to make my stories a journey, like a movie that you read. My goal is to immerse the reader in the story, tugging on all of their emotions, and make them feel as if they're living the story too.
Why do you write?
I think in plot lines and characters; I've always done that, even when I was a kid. I'm also someone who doesn't particularly like reality. I find if I listen to the news, it's rather depressing. Writing, I get to create my own reality and I really enjoy the worlds I create because despite all the ups and downs, there's always a happy ending and I'm a sucker for the happy ending.
Who inspires you?
May sound odd, but the characters do. Each takes on a life of their own and as their stories unfold, the more inspired I get.
Was being an author something you've always wanted to do?
Always. My dream has always been to roll out of bed, get the family off, and then grab a cup of coffee and head to my office to spend the day writing. The fact that I actually make a living from my dream is incredible.
Favorite place to write?
My office because I've filled it with mementos that represent the characters in my books...a painter's palette clock for Logan and Lark, a cake plate with fake fancy cupcakes for Avery, typewriters for Ember, Mia's crystal-encrusted platform pumps, etc.
What is your favorite book you’ve written? Why?
His Light in the Dark because I adore Cole Campbell. His life is hard and yet under his remote exterior is a heart of gold. And Mia complements him perfectly because she's sweet and wears her heart on her sleeve, but more she sees Cole as he is and not how he perceives himself.
What elements around you, inspire you?
Music. Many writers write to music because music inspires. There are songs that make you want to dance and songs that make you want to cry. Tapping into the emotion stirred by music, at least for me, helps me really set the tone of a scene.
How often do you publish?
I try to publish three books a year.
Personal Questions:
Dream trip to go on someday?
Ireland. I want to see in real life the majesty I've seen in pictures.
Do you have a bucket list?
Yes
If so give us your top 5!
5. Walking the cliffs in Ireland
4. Sky diving
3. Building my own lightsaber
2. Attending the Academy Awards
1. Seeing my kids grow up...finding a career, watching them fall in love, seeing their faces in their children.
Favorite shows?
Supernatural, iZombie, Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, Chicago Fire and Hawaii Five-O
What is your favorite Holiday? Why?
Christmas, it's magical.
Do you have a favorite movie you watch over & over?
Star Wars, the original trilogy.
If you weren’t writing, what would you be doing?
Owning a little garden center or an on line shop specializing in cheesecake; I make a mean cheesecake.
What distracts you easily?
Gardening...creating colorful gardens that look wild.
Name a few addictions? These are fun addictions… Shoe, Book, Purse, Jewelry Addict
Swag creating, jewelry and books.
Fun Questions: (Quick Answers)
Shoes or No Shoes? No shoes

Review: "Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins (The Sweet series #1)"

Embrace the Forbidden

What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences?

This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.
Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She's aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but it isn't until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He's the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.

Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?

Review
it has been a while since I've read a young adult book that I didn't start and loved a while ago or really liked/loved.  But this one I really liked! I like the concept of Fallen Angels/Nephilem. It has a kind of different take on nephilim than I'm used to but I liked it. I have to say I can tell it's a young adult but since the focus isn't on the romance part but more on the supernatural part, it  doesn't bother me. It is typical in a young adult supernatural story that the heroine is the focus of everything and that she has to save the world or some people and that is the case in this book as well.

What is this story about.
This book focuses on Anna. Anna is a very sweet innocent, naive, very good girl. She can't stand to lie and feels terrible after even the tiniest lie.  She knows something is off about her. Her senses are extremely heightened. She can hear across a room, see in the dark etc. Not only that but she can see things. She can read people's moods/aura's. One day she meets Kaiden, he's a very sexy drummer in a band. Anna is very intrigued by him . As it turns out Kaiden and Anna are the same. Well sort of. Anna learns that she is a nephilim. An offspring of a human and a fallen angel (duke of hell/demon). But the thing is Anna's mother wasn't human, she was an angel. So that makes anna very unique.........

What did I like about this book
I'm a big fan of books about angels, nephilim etc.  So that alone will make me like something. But the deal breaker with those kind of stories is the writing style of the author and the characters in the book.  I really liked the writing style of this author. She really knows how to tell a story.
I liked the chemistry between Kaiden and Anna. Since I got used to sex and more of a partner feel in stories, I kind of missed it but I understand that it isn't going to happen in young adult book.  These types of stories are obviously less about sex and tend to focus on the main female.  They tend to build an entire story around that person.  There is nothing wrong with that don't get me wrong.
I liked the side characters in this book. They where contributing to the story without taking the attention away from it. They were funny and I liked them.
There are some things happening in this book that would definitely not be acceptable if it was a normal ya romance but since it was a supernatural book, it didn't bother me.
One thing that was questionable for me at one point was the emotional stability of patty (anna's foster mom). That women sure cries allot and isn't really that big of a parental authority figure. I liked her but wasn't that crazy about her.

Review: "A need so beautiful by Suzanne Young (A Need So Beautiful #1)"

We all want to be remembered. Charlotte's destiny is to be forgotten.

Charlotte's best friend thinks Charlotte might be psychic. Her boyfriend thinks she's cheating on him. But Charlotte knows what's really wrong: She is one of the Forgotten, a kind of angel on earth who feels the Need - a powerful, uncontrollable draw to help someone, usually a stranger.

But Charlotte never wanted this responsibility. What she wants is to help her best friend, whose life is spiraling out of control. She wants to lie in her boyfriend's arms forever. But as the Need grows stronger, it begins to take a dangerous toll on Charlotte. And who she was, is, and will become - her mark on this earth, her very existence - is in jeopardy of disappearing completely.

Charlotte will be forced to choose: Should she embrace her fate as a Forgotten, a fate that promises to rip her from the lives of those she loves forever? Or is she willing to fight against her destiny - no matter how dark the consequences?

Review
I was really excited to read this book. It would be my first apollycon read (except the books I've already read in the past, before I'd decided to go to apollycon). The concept of this book is really nice but the delivery not so much. I just didn't like the writing style or the characters. The story was very vague and felt random. Now don't judge this because of my review. Maybe the book got better but after 10 chapters I just couldn't finish it. So because of that I won't rate this book.

Review: "The Best Goodbye by Abbi Glines (Rosemary Beach #13)"

The look on Rose’s face had screamed that she was hiding something. Hell, she’d practically run away from me. There was something to that. I knew there was...

After ten years in the employ of a mysterious crime boss, River “Captain” Kipling is ready to leave his sordid past—and his cover occupation as an upscale restaurateur—behind him. The only thing standing in the way of his “retirement” is his commitment to launch a new restaurant in the resort town of Rosemary Beach. With his sister, Blaire, nearby, Captain can delay his dream of running a humble bar on the waterfront, but the unwanted attentions of his head server, Elle, have him itching to get out.

Until he notices Rose Henderson, the new server at the restaurant. All he knows about the pretty redhead with the cute glasses is that she’s a hardworking single mom from Oklahoma. But there’s something overly familiar about her laugh...something strange about the way she looks at Captain...

Review
I was very excited for this book. I really wanted to know more about Captain's story. And I must say I wasn't dissapointed. This book felt different from the other books. The other character weren't in it as mush and as much as I would have like to see more of them it didn't bother me. I liked this book the way it was.

What is this book all about
This book focuses on Captain's story. Captain also known as river is Blair's brother. He was very involved with mase and reese's story and near the end we find out why. After he was done in texas he moved to rosemary beach to help set up and open a new restaurant. Captain didin't have an easly live either. We know that he was adopted but we know nothing about his live. Well we'll find out more now.
Rose didn't have a easy life. She does what she can to provide for her 9 year old daughter. She is in rosemary beach because she found her daughters father. A boy she met in foster care, fell in love with and was forced to leave behind. She doesn't want to expose her daughter to her father without knowing what kind of a man he is. Sadly he isn't the man rose thought he was, the guy she remembered.

What did I like about this book.
I liked the scenes of Rose and River's past. I loved getting to know their past. I loved that this story was a bit different than the other stories in this series.
I really like Addy. She really tried her best and she's a great mom. Her daughter Franny was just adorable. I would love to read a story about her when she's grown up.
Overall I just really enjoyed this story. I couldn't put it down.  I do have to say there was a piece in this story that really caught me by surprise. I got the feeling I should have know but after looking through the previous books I'm kind of sure I couldn't have known.

TOXIC By: Kim Karr
#TeaserTuesday #TOXIC #OneClickToday
Synopsis:
He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not...
New York Times bestselling author Kim Karr turns up the heat in a smoking hot, emotionally compelling new novel that takes you into the world of Manhattan’s elite.
In Toxic, Jeremy McQueen, a sexy, intense, sometimes brooding entrepreneur goes after what he wants—the woman he left behind years ago. Phoebe St. Claire, a put together, in control socialite-turned-CEO has been drifting through life searching for something she thought she'd never find again—the right man to share her future.
Our passion was boundless. Our lust untamed. And our desire endless. He was the only man who ever made me feel alive. Then, I betrayed him.
When he reappeared, I didn’t question it. Trust rarely survives the wrecking ball, so when he let me in back in—I didn’t hesitate.
Maybe I should have.
What began as a bid to save my family business, turned into a second chance at love. It felt so romantic. Working together, side by side, with the man I loved. My dream come true.
Nothing is as good as it seems.
We had our issues, but then again, every couple does. It wasn’t jealousy, or our too-hot sex life that I should have been worried about.
It was his darkside.
I never saw the end coming, until it slammed me in the face. The question is—did he?
Was revenge his plan all along?
****
Sometimes you have to wonder if your life is too good to be true.
Is it real or just an illusion?
Does the man lying beside you really love you like he says he does?
If the answer is yes, you’re meant to live happily ever after.
If the answer is no, you’re living my life, and nothing will ever be the same.
What you do about it—that’s up to you.
Me, I’m in too deep and there’s no getting out.
I’ll take whatever I can get for as long as I can because I know when it’s over…
I’ll never find another man like him.
Ever!
