Review "Brave by Jennifer L. Armentrout"

Ivy Morgan hasn't been feeling like herself lately. Not like anyone can blame her. After all, being held captive by a psychotic fae prince hell-bent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld is bound to leave some mental scars.

It’s more than that, though. Something dark and insidious is spreading throughout Ivy, more powerful than she could ever imagine... and it’s coming between her and the man she’s fallen deeply in love with, elite Order member Ren Owens.

Ren would do anything to keep Ivy safe. Anything. But when he makes a life altering choice for her, the fallout of his act has far reaching consequences that threaten to tear their lives apart.

If Ivy is going to have any hope of surviving this, she must put aside the hurt and betrayal she feels, and work with not only those she loves, but with an enemy she would rather kill than ever trust. War is coming, and it soon becomes clear that what Ivy and Ren thought they knew about the Order, themselves, and even their enemies, has been nothing but a cluster of dangerous, deadly lies.

Ivy knows she must be more than just brave to save those she loves--and, ultimately, to save herself.

Because behind every evil fae Prince, there’s a Queen….

Review
This is the first book I've managed to read after my brain injury ( I got a bloodcloth in my brain) and I just couldn't focuse enough to read. But I managed to read this one and I'm so glad I did.
In hindsight it might have been better to reread the first two books before reading this one because I noticed I was a little hazy on the details.

What is this book all about
This book picks up where the last one ended. Ivy got rescued from the evil prince and is now hiding with people that she never thought would exist, good fae that don't feed on humans.
Ivy has been through some horrible stuff and it's not something one just gets over. She is struggeling and the people around here are struggeling to help her.  But excaping the clutched of the evil prince doesn't mean it's over. He still wants to make apocolyps baby and Ivy isn't down with that.
The prince is hunting her down, but are things really what they seem? Are the things you were told the actual truth?

What did I like about this book
I liked how real this book was. Eventhough fae aren't real, ptsd and trauma is and it was portrayed in a very realistic manner in my opinion. In some books we see heroines struggle for a page and then be totally fine with everything and all is good again. It's not that I wanted Ivy to struggle but for the sake of the story i'm glad she did.
I just love Ren, I mean who doesn't melt when a tall, hot, muscled guy with piercing green eyes calls you "sweetness", and don't lie to me, I know you do.  I love how he was willing to stay with Ivy to the end, through everything. Yes they faught but he never gave up.
I absolutely adore Tink, he might be one of my favorite characters Jen's ever written. He is so funny and eccentric and full of live. And weird, just love him. It was so funny to see how other fae were reacting to him, especially in his 'adult' form.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. But it doesn't  feel like a definite ending to me. I feel like this could be the third book in the series and there could be another one. Not that i'm not pleased with the ending because I am. I just miss a 100% closure.
Also like I hinted at above, be aware of the cliffhangers. There was stuff happening that I did not see coming, ever.

I can't wait for the novella that comes out in 2018 called the prince. You might think 'what the hell, why are you excited to read about that asshole', well read the book and find out why.

Review "Millions by Pepper Winters"

ARC
"Tragedy, turmoil, and the ultimate sacrifice. It's not a question of what I'm willing to sacrifice but who to deserve her...

Can love truly conquer all? Even when so many truths say no?

Favorite Quote:“Our fatal flaw was to pick on ourselves. To tear ourselves apart by tearing others apart who remind you of you.”

Review:
What a great ending for a great series. I was so incredibly happy to be chosen to review this book early. The second I knew it sat on my kindle, I started reading it. I had to put it down for a bit to go to work but luckily I was able to finish tonight. Don't tell my boss that i'm reading on the job haha.

What is this book about:
This book picks up immediately where the last book ended thank go. Pim was taken by some idiot French guy we know and love by the name of Q mercer. Elder was shot and fell over board and we don't know whether he's alive or not. So yeah that ending.

Anyhow I wish I could tell you more but that would be spoiler, something most of you maybe expect but a spoiler non the less so I can't tell.

This book is about realizing family doesn't always mean blood. You can create your own family. It's also about excepting help and love, while it's scary it can also be the most liberating thing in your life. This book is about overcoming intense hardship and creating a life time of happiness.

What did I like about this book:
Again I can't say much because that would be a spoiler. I did love this book. I love to see Pim being herself and growing as a person. Growing and overcoming her past.

I really loved seeing other characters from Peppers book in this one. It's fun to see those characters again and tie together in some way.

I wish I could tell you exactly why I love this book, what made me love this book, but I can't. So you'll just have to take my word for it. Read the book and see for your self how Pim's story ends.

update

Hii guys!! I'm so sorry I'm been MIA for a while! I haven't stopped reading though, I just didn't review and post about it.
Anyhow I want to get back to reviewing more and being more active as a blogger because I do like it :D

Anyhow since I last posted, which was in February I believe I've been to Apollycon2017 in Orlando Florida, and it was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. After that I've been to Harry Potter world which was a dream come true. If you follow me on instagram (www.instagram.com/the_blonde_book_lover) you might have seen the picture.
In june I went to another book signing, Romance Author Reader Event in Berlin and it was so much fun. I went with fellow book friends whom I've met at other signings

I haven't been in a good place for while, lots of up and downs, and I'm not better yet but I'm working hard on it. So while I'm going to try to be more active on here I can't promise anything.

Anyhow, I'm gonna post review I've wrote for all the books I've read this year soon. I've bought this most adorable little book journal called "The Book Lover's Journal" which I bought on amazon uk. In that journal you can keep track of the books you've written, what you thought of it, how many stars you rated it, what books you want to read, favorite books, favorite authors, signings, literary places you want to visit etc. etc.  I'm in love with it! It's basically a kind of goodreads but then smaller and in the form of a cute little book

Cheater.jpg
Blurb
Lucas Thorn wasn’t born a cheater. All it took was a single moment—say, a certain disastrous incident on the night before his wedding—and boom. Reputation destroyed forever and always. So now he owns it. He has a lady friend for every night of the week (except Sundays—God’s day and all), and his rules are simple: No commitments. No exceptions.

But a certain smart-mouthed, strawberry blonde vixen is about to blow that all to hell.

Avery Black has never forgiven Lucas for cheating on her sister. And suddenly being forced to work with him is pretty much a nightmare on steroids. Of course, it does afford her the opportunity to make his life as difficult as possible. But no good revenge scheme comes without payback. Because he didn’t become the Lucas Thorn without learning a few things about women.

Now Avery’s lust for vengeance has turned into, well, lust. And if Lucas stops cheating, it’s definitely not because he’s falling in love…

cheater teaser 4.jpg
Excerpt

One night.
It was all I needed anyway, right? It’s not as if he was going to really commit to me, marry me, offer to impregnate me and father all our children.
“Are you sure about this, Avery?” He cupped my face with his rough hands. “You still have a choice. You can turn that cute ass around and march out that door—hell, you can even slam it on the way out. I’ll even let you keep the steak.”
“Are you offering me an out?”
He nodded.
“Do you offer that to every girl?”
Another nod.
“Do they ever take it?”
“Sometimes.”
“What do you want me to do?”
He paused. “You know, nobody has ever asked me that before.”
Probably because nobody cared about what else he had to offer besides what was dangling between his legs.
“I’m asking. Right now.” I wrapped my arms around his neck. “What does Thorn want?”
“You didn’t full-name me.”
“It seems to make you even more arrogant, God forbid.”
His grin made me weak, so weak that I had to hold on to him for strength. Funny how things come full circle. How he’d always been my rock.
Dependable.
Loving.
And now?
He held all the power. Lucas Thorn . . . could destroy me.
“Stay.” He brushed a soft kiss across my lower lip. “I want you to stay.”

TWO YEARS

Since my life changed for the second time and not necessarily for the better. Two years since I traded prison bars for streets and hunted a runaway who I’d met in an alley.

TWO DAYS

Since I forgot how to lie, woke to fists, and chased after the girl who’d been stolen from me.

TWO HOURS

To save her, rescue her, keep my lies intact. She looks at me full of hate. I look at her full of confession.

TWO MINUTES

For our relationship to switch from mutual dislike to floundering with unknowns. I’ve hurt her. Now, she’s hurt me. I guess we’re even.

TWO SECONDS

For her to listen, to see, to finally know who I am. The answer comes with hardship. The answer isn’t what she wants to hear.

TWO BREATHS

For me to walk out the door.

TWO HEARTBEATS

For it all to be over.

Review "Fear of Falling by S.L. Jennings

I can’t remember the last time I felt completely safe. Security seemed more like a luxury to me, reserved for those who were fortunate enough to have picture perfect childhoods. For those who didn’t bear the ugly scars that keep me bound in constant, debilitating fear. I’ve run from that fear my entire life. But when I met him, for once, I couldn’t run anymore.

He scared the hell out of me in a way that excited every fiber of my being. It wasn’t the tattoos or the piercings. It wasn’t the warmth that seemed to radiate from his frame and blanket me whenever he was near. It was just…him. The scary beautiful man that threatened to alter 23 years of routine and rituals, and make me face my crippling fear.

My name is Kami and I am constantly afraid. And the thing that scares me the most is the very thing I want.

Review
I was going to give this book 5 starts but the length of the book made me change that to four. Why?, Well because it felt a bit to long at some points. I'm not talking about the important parts but some bits were a bit to slow for my liking. It caused me to skip pieces to get to dialog. Also it felt at times like I missed things, the flow of the story was a bit off at times. In the beginning I cared for Kami more and I really felt for her because of what she went through, but the more I got into the book the more I cared for Blaine because he was trying so hard, he was getting hurt over and over again because he cared and tried so hard to help Kami.
That being said I thing this book was amazing! It really show how crippling fear can be. It shows that you can't help someone unless they want to help themselves. It shows how hurtful it can be for the other party to love someone who won't let you love them, who can't let them in.

What is this book all about
This book is written in dual pov, kami and Blaine. Kami sees herself as broken. She had a terrible past and she is still dealing with. Well not dealing with is because she never really got over what happens to her. Fear is consuming her. She is afraid to let anyone but her best friends angel and Dominic near her. Both who had difficult pasts of them own. Then she meets Blaine. Blaine didn't have an easy past either but where Kami doesn't want to feel at all, Blaine feels allot. He's really emphatic.
They are immediate attracted to each other. And they fall for each other pretty fast. But where Blaine is willing to do anything to help Kami, to shoulder her fears, Kami is trying everything she can not to feel.

What did I like about this book
I'm not sure how I feel about this book. My head is so full right now that I find it hard to write this review. I want to look at is as pure fiction and if I do I find myself getting annoyed with Kami for hurting Blaine over and over again, for kind of stringing him along but that isn't the case. This book just doesn't feel as just fiction to me. It feels real. This is reality for allot of people. I find it hard to be annoyed at kami or mad at her without pointing at myself and say" you don't deal with emotions either, you don't let anyone near either". Maybe that's why this review is so hard for me because I see pieces of myself in Kami. It hurt me to see how hard it is for Kami to let someone in but it hurts even more to see how hard it was for Blaine. How difficult it is for him to deal with someone who refuses his love. And it scares me. It made me think if I'm ever able to do what Kami did in the end, love some one and let someone in.
Anything I really liked about this book were Angel and Dominic. I'm not even going to call them side characters because they were so much more than that. They were amazing friends. I can't wait to read more about Dominic so I'm going to read his book for sure. I might have loved him even more than I did Kami.
As the content of this book is raw, and emotional I would have loved it more if the story flowed a bit better in the beginning. I don't know how to explain it. This book isn't an easy read, due to the content of the book and the way it's written but it's worth the read. It definitely is!

Review "Lick by Kylie Scott"

Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas's plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man in her room, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is certain, being married to one of the hottest rock stars on the planet is sure to be a wild ride.

Review
I expected more from this book than I've gotten. The beginning was very interesting. I like it but after that the characters became a bit to much? They were mussy and weepy, and a tad whiny at times. I think they went awfully fast from meeting to falling in love and being each other everything. It didn't feel real.
The last bit of the book felt more real to me. Due to that I liked it more even though the characters were hurting.
The way the story flowed didn't always made sense to me. It seemed a bit out of character, well not even that I don't know. The h was a bit naive and just unrealistic at times. and the H was similar to her in that way. It kept me from connecting with them.
I feel like if the story was written a bit different, if the story flowed in a different way, I would have liked it more.

You see the thing is I totally got that they got married drunk in Vegas because they had a connection. I got that after spending some time together they wanted to see if they could get a relationship and give the marriage a try. I liked that part of the story but after spending a view hours together, max a view days the h was talking about love, and the H was acting like a pussy whipped lad at times.  It felt like I missed a view chapters.
Anyhow I did like the idea of the book, I liked the beginning and the last 1/3 of the book but the way they got to that point was just 'meh' for me.

Review "Throne of Truth by Pepper Winters"

* ARC received in exchange of an honest review*
“My body blinded me while his lies destroyed me. Penn Everett swept me from my world and into his, and when his lies fell apart, I finally opened my eyes to the truth. The awful, terrible truth.”

Noelle Charlston had it all: her company, a love affair, power and protection.
However, she didn’t pay attention, and in one night, everything she believed in, everyone she trusted turned out to be worse than fake.
Now, she has no one to help her. No one to free her.
She’s on her own and has to make the choice.
Who to believe?
Who to fight?
Review
I'm so grateful that I received an arc for this book! I was lucky to get one for the first one and that ending left me wanting more!.
I did a little happy dance, and I won't lie had a pretty smug smile on my face when I found out I was right!  I won't tell you what I was right about because that will spoil some things for you and I'm trying to keep this review spoiler free! All I can say read this book!  In my opinion it's so much better than the first one! The characters really developed and we got more background information.

What it this book all about
This book picks right up where the first one, crown of lies, ended. Noelle 'elle' ran from Penn's charity event after she discovers his little "step"brother with the necklace that was stolen from her all those years ago. Elle makes an assumption that terrifies her and she runs. At home her night gets even worse when her childhood friend kidnaps her. Greg always was obsessed with Elle and was told that he would end up with her. When that wasn't happening he took matters into his own hands and took her. Greg is a psychopath. He was so consumed with greed and delusion he thought what he was going wasn't wrong at all. I won't go into detail but he did some major creepy things.
Anyhow Penn is desperately trying to find Elle before he loses her forever.
In this book we will find out who nameless is, we find out more about Penn and we see who he is behind his dominant alfa male mask. Will Elle and Penn make it work or is the secret that separated them to big to overcome... that is if Greg will let her go......

What did I love about this book
What made me love this book more than the first one is that we get to know more about Penn's past. We really get to see more of him besides his alpha dirty talking self. We really get to know him, see him grow. I also loved how strong Elle was during this book. I really got more respect for her.
On thing I didn't like was her father. He seemed more like a child sometimes than a parent, and the way he changes his mind was weird in my opinion. I didn't like him much in the first book and that didn't change in this one.

Review "Defiance by C.J. Redwine"

While the other girls in the walled city-state of Baalboden learn to sew and dance, Rachel Adams learns to track and hunt. While they bend like reeds to the will of their male Protectors, she uses hers for sparring practice.

When Rachel's father fails to return from a courier mission and is declared dead, the city's brutal Commander assigns Rachel a new Protector: her father's apprentice, Logan—the boy she declared her love to and who turned her down two years before. Left with nothing but fierce belief in her father's survival, Rachel decides to escape and find him herself.

As Rachel and Logan battle their way through the Wasteland, stalked by a monster that can't be killed and an army of assassins out for blood, they discover romance, heartbreak, and a truth that will incite a war decades in the making.

Review
I'm really gutted about this because I really want to like every book I read but sadly that's not the reality. I didn't like this book. It didn't have much introduction. I felt like I misses some explanation at some points. It didn't bother me in the beginning because It started out interesting and I hope we'd get more background in the chapters following but that wasn't the case. There were some details through in the story that when I've read them it made me think "huh where did this come from". It were details that should have mentions earlier, it should have been at the beginning where the world was set up but since that was missing it felt like the author thought " oh yeah  btw did I mentions this, no, oh well I'll do it now". It was written in a way that made you second guess yourself.
I didn't find the characters all that interesting. Rachel's badassery was over explained, almost like the author tried to convince us and really make clear that she was a bad ass, when all I saw sometimes was a whiny child.
The world the characters live in is really sexist really, the woman have no right and can only go anywhere with a guardian.  It didn't really bother me because I wasn't that invested in the story anymore when it came clear that was the situation but It could have worked out better, introduced better, build better.
For me I think the story overall had potential and it would have been great in my opinion if only it was build up better. If the characters actions spoke for them instead of the author telling us.

Review "On Dublin Street by Samantha Young"

Jocelyn Butler has been hiding from her past for years. But all her secrets are about to be laid bare…

Four years ago, Jocelyn left her tragic past behind in the States and started over in Scotland, burying her grief, ignoring her demons, and forging ahead without attachments. Her solitary life is working well—until she moves into a new apartment on Dublin Street where she meets a man who shakes her carefully guarded world to its core.

Braden Carmichael is used to getting what he wants, and he’s determined to get Jocelyn into his bed. Knowing how skittish she is about entering a relationship, Braden proposes an arrangement that will satisfy their intense attraction without any strings attached.

But after an intrigued Jocelyn accepts, she realizes that Braden won’t be satisfied with just mind-blowing passion. The stubborn Scotsman is intent on truly knowing her… down to the very soul.

Review
This is the first time I've read anything by Samantha Young and I must say I really liked it. It this the best story I've ever read, no but I enjoyed it allot. I liked the characters but what I loved the most is the setting. I've been to Edinburgh a couple of times and I love it there. I've been to most of the places mentioned in the book so that made it extra special for me.
Even though I got a bit impatient with the characters from time to time it didn't take away from me enjoying the book.

What is this book about.
This book is about American Josselyn, aka Joss.  Joss has a troubled past. She lost her parents and sister at a young age. After that she locked down. She refuses to deal with any emotions and she doesn't let anyone get close to her. I can really relate to that because we're very similar in that area. Anyhow Joss moved to Edinburgh for collage but stayed after graduation. She's wanting to become a writer and works part time at a bar.
One day she meets confidant and sexy Braden. They were immediately attracted to each other. The second time they meet is one for the books. Joss just moved to a new place with a new roommate, and as it turns out said roomate has a hot brother that has a key. And as you know it, that brother decides to use said key the moment Joss walked out of her bathroom naked....  And yes, that brother is Branden.
This story focuses on Joss journey to overcome her issues and move past her parents death, it focuses on a stubborn male with issues of his own that is determent to help the ones he loves. Braden is someone who gets what he wants, and he wants Joss, every broken piece of her. Will Joss be able to let Braden in or is she so broken that not even Braden can help her put those pieces back together.

What did I like about this book
I liked that the issues that Joss has weren't resolved magically. It took time, as it does in real live. Yes I wanted to smack her in the head sometimes but then I thought I think people might want to do that to me from time to time aahah.
I liked the setting obviously and I liked that the side characters were well developed.  I liked that the side characters added to the story.
Overall I really enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

EXCERPT

“Are you a virgin?” I ask.

“Well . . . yes.”

“Then why are you complaining? You qualify.”

Sarah’s eyes flash with annoyance. “Because I’m more than my hymen, Henry! To base the value of an accomplished, intelligent woman on a flimsy piece of skin is degrading. How would you feel if your worth rested on your foreskin?”

I think it over. And then I grin. “I’d be all right with that, actually. I’ve heard it was an impressive foreskin—all the nurses were fawning over it. It’s probably being showcased in a museum right now.”

She stares at me for a beat, then she laughs out loud—a rich, throaty, sensual sound.

“You’re a terrible human being.”

“I know.” I shake my head at the calamity of it all.

“And you’re an even worse feminist.”

“Agreed. That’s something I need to work on. You’ll help me, won’t you? We should spend as much time together as possible—every minute of the day and night. I’m hoping you’ll rub off on me.”

Sarah pushes my shoulder. “You’re just hoping I’ll rub you off.”

Now it’s my turn to laugh. Because she’s not even a little bit wrong.

“But there’s never been anyone? Really?”

Sarah shrugs. “Penny and I were tutored at home when we were young . . . but in year ten, there was this one boy.”

I rub my hands together. “Here we go—tell me everything. I want all the sick, lurid details. Was he a footballer? Captain of the team, the most popular boy in school?”

“He was captain of the chess team.”

I cover my eyes with my hand.

“His name was Davey. He wore these adorable tweed jackets and bow ties, he had blond hair and was a bit pale because of the asthma. He had the same glasses as me and he had a different pair of argyle socks for every day of the year.”

“I am so disappointed in you right now.”

“He was nice,” she chides. “You leave my Davey alone.”

I shake my head. “So what happened to old Davey boy?”

“I was alone in the library one day and he came up and started to ask me to the spring social. And I was so excited and nervous I could barely breathe. And then before he could finish the question, I . . .”

I don’t realize I’m leaning toward her until she stops talking and I almost fall over.

“You . . . what?”

Sarah hides behind her hands.

“I threw up on him.”

And I try not to laugh. I swear I try . . . but I’m only human. So I end up laughing so hard the car shakes and I can’t speak for several minutes.

“Christ almighty.”

“And I’d had fish and chips for lunch.” Sarah’s laughing too. “It was awful.”

“Oh you poor thing.” I shake my head, still chuckling. “And poor Davey.”

“Yes.” She wipes under her eyes with her finger. “Poor Davey. He never came near me again after that.”

“Coward—he didn’t deserve you. I would’ve swam through a whole lake of puke to take a girl like you to the social.”

She smiles so brightly at me, her cheeks maroon and round like two shiny apples.

“I think that’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me.”

I wiggle my eyebrows. “I’m all about the compliments.”

Review "Egomaniac by Vi Keeland"

The night I met Drew Jagger, he’d just broken into my new Park Avenue office.
I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills.
He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing.

Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant.
Only, turned out, he wasn’t an intruder at all.

Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office.  He’d been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.
Which was how a scammer got away with leasing me office space that wasn’t really available for rent.
I was swindled out of ten grand.

The next day, after hours at the police station, Drew took pity on me and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.  In exchange for answering his phones while his secretary was out, he’d let me stay until I found a new place.
I probably should have acted grateful and kept my mouth shut when I overheard the advice he was spewing to his clients.  But I couldn’t help giving him a piece of my mind.
I never expected my body to react every time we argued.  Especially when that was all we seemed to be able to do.

The two of us were complete opposites. Drew was a bitter, angry, gorgeous-as-all-hell, destroyer of relationships.  And my job was to help people save their marriages.
The only thing the two of us had in common was the space we were sharing.
And an attraction that was getting harder to deny by the day.

Review
I haven't read any of Vi Keeland books before, I've been meaning to but I haven't got the chance to read any. I always like the sound of the blurbs so I finally decided to give her a change. I must say I really like this book. It was started of with a bang but after that after that it was a bit slow. It too a while for the story line to develop but after it did it moved a bit faster again. I really liked how the characters developed. There was way book to the story than I first thought.

What is this book about.
This book starts of with Emerie and Drew meeting in a quite odd manor.  You see they meet when Emerie thinks Drew is breaking into her office. But the thing is, Emerie got scammed and the office she things she's renting is actually Drew's office.  Drew takes pity on her and decided to help her out. After an interesting trip to the police office and a very interesting trail, drew and Emerie get to know each other a bit better. While trying to clear up the mess Emerie is in, she and drew strike a deal. Emerie can rent an office in Drew building if she helps him out as his secretary while his own secretary is on sick leave.
Drew is a successful divorce lawyer and Emerie is a psychologist who specializes in marriage counseling. So you can imagine they have quite different views on certain things. One thing they do agree on, they might not always admit it, is their attraction to each other.

What did I like about this book.
I liked how the story progressed in the end. I liked that there was way more to it than you'd think. Although it felt a bit slow at certain points, I did like it.
I liked the banter between Drew and Emerie. I loved Drews dirty dirty mouth, but most of all I loved how real and caring Drew was. I loved Emerie's spunk and the way she cares about people.
