Release day blitz "Empire by Rachel van Dyken"

Empire 0 days

empire smash cover art

I have lost everything.

My purpose

My love

My soul

Death knocks on my door, I want to answer, but every time I reach for the handle -- the promise I made her brings me back.

So I breathe.

I live.

I hate.

And I allow the anger to oil beneath the surface of a perfectly indifferent facade. I am broken, I don't want to be fixed.

But the Empire is crumbling and it's my job to fix it.

My job to mend the pieces that were scattered over thirty years ago.

A trip to New York, only one chance to redeem a lost part of our mafia family.

The only issue is, the only way to fix it, is to do something I swore I'd never do again.

An arranged marriage.

Only this time.

I won't fall.

Or so help me God, I will kill her myself.

My name is Sergio Abandonoto, you think you know my pain, my suffering, my anger, my hate?

You have no idea.

I am the mafia.

I am the darkness.

Blood in. No out.

The loving couple in the rain

EXCERPT

Sergio looked ready to strangle me. “No. I don’t believe I asked for an annoying little sister, but if that’s what you’re offering, please don’t let me stop you. Just know, I won’t hesitate to put you over my knee if you get out of hand.”

The minute the words left his mouth. I froze.

He froze.

The taxi driver stared little laser like holes into the rearview mirror.

And Sergio leaned toward me.

I swallowed as tension swirled around us.

He gripped me by the chin and turned my head to the side, his lips brushing my ear. “It’s like you have a death wish.”

“You wouldn’t do it.”

He pulled back as both of his eyebrows shot up, and then he looked down, like he had spotted something.

I followed the direction of his gaze and let out a little gasp as a gun dug into my stomach.

“It’s been directed at you for the last four minutes,” Sergio said through a practiced smile. “I meant what I said. Listen well. I keep my word. Kiss me, and blood will be spilled.”

“Y-you’re a crazy person!” I hissed, shoving at his chest. “And I wasn’t going to kiss you!”

“Sure you weren’t.” He put the gun away. “Good talk though, right? Oh look, the movie theater.”

To say that I scrambled out of the car like a kid running away from her kidnapper would be a gross understatement, but the minute my feet hit the pavement, I paused.

My body told me to run.

The guy had pulled a gun.

On me.

I didn’t even watch violent movies.

Twenty-Four hours before were were to be married--I offered to shoot her.

Ten hours before our wedding--I made a mockery of her dying wish.

Five hours before we were going to say our vows--I promised I'd never love her.

One hour before I said I do--I vowed I'd never shed a tear over her death.

But the minute we were pronounced man and wife--I knew.

I'd only use my gun to protect her.

I'd give my life for hers.

I'd cry.

And I would, most definitely, lose my heart, to a dying girl--a girl who by all accounts should have never been mine in the first place.

I always believed the mafia would be my end game--where I'd lose my heart, while it claimed my soul. I could have never imagined. It would be my redemption.

Or the beginning of something beautiful.

The beginning of her.

The end of us.

Review " Revelry by Carmen Jenner"

Cooper Ryan is living the dream. Between the parties with rock royalty, booze, groupies and performing to crowds of thousands with his band Taint, life seems pretty sweet. There’s just one thing missing: the feisty little red-head that took his baby and ran off with his heart. Throwing himself into music is the only thing keeping him sane.

Until a run-in with a nonplussed, package-wielding PA throws everything off balance.

Ali Jones is having a craptastic life. Her grandmother died, leaving her homeless, penniless, and alone, and her boyfriend left her for a tramp who takes her clothes off for money. That’s why when she lands her dream job at a record company it seems like it’s too good to be true.

Because it is.

Slapped with an ultimatum, Ali must decide if facing the horror of the unemployment line is a fate worse than going on the road with four rowdy rockers hell-bent on making her life misery.

He’s adored by millions.
She’s not even loved by her cat.

Can they ignore their hatred long enough to survive the tour from hell? Or will their chemistry force everything to come crashing down around them?

Review.
DNF (did not finish)

I'm still thinking about continuing to read this book only because I like cooper, one of the main males. He seems like a good guy. He isn't a saint by any means and he can be a bit unfriendly sometimes but I feel like there is more to him and that he's trying. But I didn't like Ali, the main female at all. There is a line between a sassy and sarcastic character (which I love) and a rude one. To me ali seems too rude, very angry and just a bitch, and also a bit ungrateful sometimes and i can't understand why. I mean yeah she lost her grandmother and got kicked out of her house and her boyfriend cheated but that doesn't excuse you being a bitch to everyone. She complains about everything, the is too stubborn and maybe just maybe you're boss doesn't like you and might want to fire you is because of your attitude. And then their is levi, another main male. He almost crossed the disgusting line for me. It seems like there is nothing more than a rude mouth and sex on his mind with him. And some of the things they did where just plain weird and unnecessary to me.

I felt like the author tried to hard to create different, unique, characters but to me it didn't work. I just didn't feel any connection or liking to the characters, expect cooper maybe. It left me feeling annoyed.

But the thing is this story keeps spinning in my head. So that's a positive thing. It does stick with you. And I'm curious how it will turn out. But with the things I already said and finding out his will become a love triangle means for me that I probably won't finish it. I just don't like love triangles.

Keep in mind that I didn't finish nor liked it because of personal preferences.

Her marriage and divorce a well-kept secret, the last person June expects to run into when she moves back to her hometown is Evan. Angry over the past, she does everything within her power to ignore the pull she feels whenever he is near. But how can she ignore the pain she sees every time their eyes meet? How can she fight the need to soothe him even if she knows she’s liable to get hurt once again?
Is it possible for June and Evan to find their way back to each other again? Or will they be stopped by an outside force before they ever have a shot?

untel june teaser use.jpg

Excerpt 1
Seeing Evan again is taking a toll on me, I can’t sleep and my mind is in a constant state of turmoil. I wake up in the middle of the night from dreams of us. The memories of him, of us are too much. Some memories have the ability to heal. The ability to light up the dark because the beauty of the memory is so bright you’re still able to bask in it.
But the memories of us are killing me slowly. They remind me that for one moment I had everything while reminding me it’s gone. It’s the realization that we’re done that’s killing me. The realization that I can see him but can’t touch him that he exist but he’s not mine is agonizing.

Excerpt 2

He’s beautiful his body is a work of art I want to touch him, I want to know what It feels like to have his bearded face against my delicate skin, I want to know if the rough edges I now see are smooth to the touch.
“June.” My name in his course tone gets my attention but when our eyes meet its not anger he’s looking at me with, its raw, powerful, hungry possessiveness.

Beautifully Decadent by L.A. Fiore
Series: Beautifully Damaged #3
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release: June 28, 2016
Avery Collins has just landed her dream job, pastry chef for the posh-Manhattan restaurant Clover. Her new boss, Trace Montgomery, even helped with securing her an affordable place to live: a beautifully restored carriage house owned by his friend, Rafe McKenzie—a man that makes her catch her breath and stirs her imagination. Trouble is, he's involved with someone, his father is being released after 25 years in prison and Avery is just his tenant. Exploring the attraction that sizzles whenever they're together would be the icing on the cake, but Avery knows all too well that you can't have everything. Of course, what's cake without icing?
Rafe McKenzie's world shattered at nine when his father Liam—the only parent he knew—was arrested and convicted for armed robbery. Growing up in the system, Rafe managed to survive his childhood and now has a job he enjoys, a house he's restoring and a tight circle of friends. He's even working on reconciling with his dad, both eager to put the past in the past.

Happy for the income a tenant would bring, Rafe agrees to rent his carriage house to Clover's new pastry chef. When Avery Collins pulls up his drive, she's not at all what he's expecting. Funny, sexy and as sweet as her desserts, it doesn't take long for things between them to heat up. Just when it seems as if they'll have their cake and eat it too, the past comes back with deadly intent leaving Rafe to figure out who's pulling the strings before his world shatters again.

Review "Forgotten Promises by Elle Brooks"

Saying “I Promise” is the easiest thing to do, its just two tiny words. No one warned me of the weight they hold, that they not only have the power to make something, to give hope, or show devotion. They can destroy everything, cause so much hurt, ruin lives.

Every promise holds a toll, if I had known what mine would cost me, I would have walked away. Now I have to pay the price, watch the consequences of my actions unfold. Witnessing someone I love crumble after breaking my oath isn’t the hardest thing I’ve endured, it's being forgotten by the one person that I could never forget.

Review
This book is the second book in the promises series. This book starts of where the first one "Promises hurt" ended.

What is this book about
This book starts with the mother of prologues. A prologue that will get you're heart racing. You'll probably chant oh no oh no oh no. I felt the need to skim through the book just so I could calm myself down.
So after that killer prologue the book starts off where the first one ended. We have yet to find out if ethan is alright and what the hell is going on. We find out that Ethan is alive, thank god and that the prologue isn't about this part in the book. Anyway the thing is Ethan might be alive but he lost his memory. He doesn't know who Blair is but feels connected to her, he doesn't remember the secret his mom told him, he doesn't know what caused the accident etc. He lost five months of his live.
Will Ethan reclaim his memory? Will he be able to remember blair or will he fall in love with her again?

What did I love about this book
I love that this story made me want to keep on going no matter what. I just couldn't put it down. I liked the turn this book took. It was really interesting.
This was a really great story. I really enjoyed it and I'm glad the way this book turned out.

Review "Promises hurt by Elle Broos"

I wasn't planning on falling for Ethan Jamison, hell I wasn't planning on our paths ever crossing. He’s the most popular guy at school and a complete player. Me; I’m the perpetual good girl, trying to carry out one last request. But when you make a promise, how far do you go to see it through?

~ Blair

It’s a running joke that I’m a terrible liar, if only people knew the truth. My whole life has been spent making excuses and deflecting questions. I was pretty good at it until Blair Thomas entered my world. She saw through the mask that everyone is so willing to accept. She makes me want to tell her all my secrets, but can she promise to keep them?

~ Ethan

Review
I liked this book. I don't tend to read allot of high school romance these days. Picked this book up because the author is coming to FBBF and the blurb sounded intriguing.

What is this book all about.
This book is about Blair and Ethan. Blair is a quirky girl that likes to keep to her self. She wears funny t-shirts with quotes on them. The book begins with blair's best friend being diagnosed with cancer. She dies a view months later. In a letter that her friend left her is also the bucket list she didn't get to finish. So the friends ask Blair to finish it for her.
Ethan meets Blair in the library. She is his new math tutor. He is taken aback by this gorgeous girl. Who is she and why didn't he knew her. As they grow closer the walls that protect secrets are coming down. Will they be able to overcome it or will the past refuse to let them go.

What did I like about this book.
I liked the characters.  They both had hardship in their life so I loved to see them heal. To see them help each other. They are so good together.  I loved Ethan and Blair both as individuals and as a couple.
Oh boy also be prepared for that cliffhanger. I just had to dive straight into the second one. I just had to know what was going to happen next.

Review "Je Suis a Toi by Pepper Winters"

*ARC provided in exchange of an honest review*

“Life taught me an eternal love will demand the worst sacrifices. A transcendent love will split your soul, cleaving you into pieces. A love this strong doesn’t grant you sweetness—it grants you pain. And in that pain is the greatest pleasure of all.”

Q made me the happiest esclave in the world. He gave me his heart, his empire, his ruthless unforgiving love. And life finally left us in peace.

A man like my maître has special needs though, growing stronger as our lives intertwine. The only way to survive his monster is to agree to all his desires.

Including his latest wish.

I’m his.

And I won’t refuse.

Review
Wow I forgot how kinky these two are. I haven't read something like this in a while haha.  I loved tess and Q's story. It was something unique and totally theirs and I loved that.

What is this story about.
This book continues Tess and Q's story. They have been married for a while now and things have been going great. Or so we thought. Tess feels like there's something that's bothering Q and he is not telling her. She can feel him pull away and she doesn't want to lose him. So she does what she can and fights for him. It the secret that Q is having something that Tess wants to fight for or is it something that will make her run in the opposite direction?

What did I love about this book.
I just loved reading about Q and Tess again. Their story is so uncontroversial, unique and so full of love. A love that is totally their own.
I really liked Tess's strength. She will do anything for Q as they have proven in the previous book. I really liked reading more about their lives after they got married.
I'm so thankful that I received this ARC. So thank you Pepper! Oh and that little preview of you're next book, I can't wait!!

Review
I liked this book. It was oke. There where a view things that I didn't like that much. And that was that I felt like the h(heroine, main female) forgave the H(hero, main male) to fast in my opinion. And the names. I don't like that all the sisters of the h are named after months, like december. I think june is oke and also july i guess but to have a group of girls together that are called june, july, december etc I didn't like to much but that's just me. And that doesn't say anything about the story ofcourse ;)

What is this book about
This book is the second book in the until you series, I haven't read the first book so that made it a bit harder for me to understand who everybody was and what their story was but that didn't keep me from understanding June and Evan's story.
So June and Evan got married before Evan goes of to bootcamp and eventually gets deployed. June's family and friends don't know about this. Something happened to Evan while he was deployed. He never contacts June anymore and june can't get his mother to tell her what's going on. After a while she gets divorce papers in the mail and that killed her. She sign's them and tries to get over Evan.
After a failed attempt to move on with the wrong guy June's family feels like June needs protection and guess who is june's new bodyguard. Yeah you guessed right, Evan.
Will June and Evan grow closer together. And will Evan be able to mend what he chattered or will June be forever lost to him?

What did I like about this book.
I like militaire romance so yeah I like that. But I also like both June and Evan's characters. Yeah are great for each other. Yes Evan screwed up big time but after hearing why I kind of understood. It broke my heart to hear  him talk like that about himself.
I just felt like June could make him grovel a bit longer. She forgave him awfully fast for my taste but hey that's just me ;)
