Review: "Shatter Me Series by Tahereh Mafi"

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

Favorite Quote:“The moon is a loyal companion.
It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it’s a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human.
Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by imperfections.”

Review:
I liked this book more than I expected too. But I guess I'm a sucker for broken characters and their journey.
This book is definitely Ya, the insta love and undying immediate love is definitely present in this book. But it had a bit of a twist that I am so happy happened. It made the story more interesting.

What is this book about:
This book is about Julliette. Julliette has been put in asylum for something she couldn't control. You see Julliette has an unique ability, if someone touches her bare skin, they die. Very inconvenient.
You see the world is dying, and dying fast. People are dying, animals are dying. Living comes so expensive that many can't afford the. The Establishment promised to fix it all, that it will become better, but so far all they have done is establish a global tyrany.
The asylum Julliette was stuck in is more a prison, a horrible prison than it's a facility people get help. After spending over 200 days in solitude, Julliette gets a cellmate. A handsome guy named Adam with bright blue eyes and tattoos all over his arm.
After a few days Julliette, to her surprise, is being let out. She hopes that they'll finally take pity on her and kill her.
She then meets the head of the sector she lives in, Werner. A hot 19 year old with beautiful blonde hair. He seems very interested in her and went to use her powers.
Julliette is desperate to escape the tyrany that wants to use her powers for their own gain. She doesn't want to hurt people but she can't do it alone. Help will come in a way she didn't expect, in the way of a boy she knew a long time ago...

What did I like about this book:
I liked the setting, it found it interesting. I was very interested to see where the story was heading.
I liked Julliette, she was so broken, and I really wanted to see her heal and see what she's capable of.
I liked Adam, I think he was a good guy.

I was okey with the immediate I love yo, can't live without you factor. I would have preferred to learn more about the why. Why do they love each other after a few chapters. But like I said above, that what you can expect of a YA book.

Overall I really enjoyed reading this book and I can't wait to see how this story will continue.

Favorite Quote:“Books are easily destroyed. But words will live as long as people can remember them.”

“I want to be the friend you fall hopelessly in love with. The one you take into your arms and into your bed and into the private world you keep trapped in your head. I want to be that kind of friend. The one who will memorize the things you say as well as the shape of your lips when you say them. I want to know every curve, every freckle, every shiver of your body.

I want to know where to touch you, I want to know how to touch you. I want to know convince you to design a smile just for me. Yes, I do want to be your friend. I want to be your best friend in the entire world.”

“Loneliness is a strange sort of thing.
It creeps on you, quiet and still, sits by your side in the dark, strokes by your hair as you sleep. It wraps itself around your bones, squeezing so tight you almost can't breathe. It leaves lies in your heart, lies next to you at night, leaches the light out of every corner. It's a constant companion, clasping your hand only to yank you down when you're struggling to stand up.
You wake up in the morning and wonder who you are. You fail to fall asleep at night and tremble in your skin. You doubt you doubt you doubt.
do I
don't I
should I
why won't I
And even when you're ready to let go. When you're ready to break free. When you're ready to be brand-new. Loneliness is an old friend stand beside you in the mirror, looking you in the eye, challenging you to live your life without it. You can't find the words to fight yourself, to fight the words screaming that you're not enough never enough never ever enough.
Loneliness is a bitter, wretched companion.
Sometimes it just won't let go.”

Review:
I really like this book! It is so similar to the X-man. It's basically a retelling in a way of the X-man. Luckily I do like the X-men. It was very interesting.
You might not understand yet but I really like Werner. I found him interesting even in the first book. There is something about him.

What is this book about:
This book begins where the first one ended. Julliette and Adam escaped from Werners clutches. They, together with James (Adams brother) and Kenji (Adams friend and former soldier) made it to Omega Point. A save place, a place where the resistance lives, and a place where there are more people with abilities live.
There they find out that Julliette isn't the only one with abilities, there are so many more that can do things. But what surprises her the most is that Adam has abilities to. It's why he can touch her. Everything seems to be well, but for how long. Werner is still looking for Julliette, and he won't give up easy. Not only that but it seems like Adam's gift comes with a price, him touching Julliette comes with a price. Is she willing to let him pay that price and the consequences that might come with it?

What did I like about this book
I want to start with saying that you don't need to worry, this series doesn't contain a love triangle. If it had I would have stopped reading because I really don't like love triangles.
I like Julliette, she's slowly on her way to become stronger. She is struggling though. She still feels like the emotional broken girl that is craving love and acceptance. She is struggling to do things for her, accepts herself and find a backbone.
I am so happy that we keep learning more about Werner. I was right, there is so much more to him than we thing. I am curious though why he feels so strongly about Julliette. It wasn't explained, just that he does.
I really like Kenji as well, he's a bit of an asshole sometimes but he means well and he's hilarious.
I'm not saying that I dislike Adam, because I do, but there is no development really into his character. He doesn't handle certain events well, and I understand that. It's hard, and I don't like seeing him in pain but he really is on his way of losing his dignity.

Now she must rely on Warner, the handsome commander of Sector 45. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world . . . but that’s not all he wants with her.

Review:
I really love the development in this book. I really enjoyed reading this book. Sometimes the back and forth became a bit frustrating but it payed of in the end.
The war scene was a bit disappointing because we didn't see much of it. And what we saw, was over quite fast.

What is this book about:
This book continues where the second one ended. Point omega is gone, Julliette got shot in the chest and was saved by Werner.
After she wakes up she learns what happened to point omega, what happened to all the people there, her friends. She needs Werners help to revenge them, to fight, to not let the Establishment win.

What did I like about this book:
I like the person Julliette is becoming. She is becoming strong and independent. I like that about her. That she is slowly crawling out of the black hole she was in for so long. I like how realistic that felt because even now she hasn't fully recovered. There will be bad days, and good days.
I was frustrated with her back and forth between her and Werner. Make up you mind already woman.
Adam really acted like a salty bitch. I understand why, that he was hurting but at one point I just wanted to smack him in the face and say snap out of it.
I just love Werner, we still don't know all of him but I like what I'm seeing so far. He is so much more that he shows to the world. He reminds me of Rhysand from the A Court of Thorns and Roses series.
I look forward to seeing more about Julliette and Werners relationship but I'm also scared because I saw some things about the 4th book that makes me nervous.

Review "#1 Lie by T. Gephart"

ARC

Working in Hollywood meant Jessica Dawson was used to lying. As an assistant to one of the biggest agents in town, biting her tongue and spewing out sugarcoated untruths were an almost daily occurrence. But fabricating alternate realities never spilled into her personal life, until three months ago when she told the biggest lie of all.

While her dear gran lay on her deathbed, Jessica mentioned she’d met her soul mate. It had been Gran’s last wish to see all her grandkids settled down before she went to see Jesus. And as the only one still single, Jessica didn’t have the heart to disappoint her.

No one expected Gran to make a miraculous recovery.

Now, Gran was expecting to meet Jessica’s perfect man at her cousin’s wedding, which meant she needed to find a perfect man fast. Hiring a professional was the only solution.

Enter Dave Larsson, younger brother to one of Hollywood’s elite.

Sexy, funny and just as smoldering hot as his super-famous sibling—he had talent and charm to spare. But most importantly, he was affordable and available.

All she needed to do was haul Dave home, have him meet Gran and the family, then shortly after the wedding, “break up” with him.

It was either that, or admit to her #1 Lie.

Only thing she didn’t plan on was the bigger lie she would need to tell herself when it was time to let him go.

Review:
I am very grateful that I was given the opportunity to review this book. While I did like reading this book, it didn't blow my mind. I found it a sweet, short fun story to read but it was a bit predictable.

What is this book about:
This book is about Jessica, or Jess. She came from a small town and after collage she moved to California. She started working for an agent and she's good at her job.
There she meets Dave. Dave is an actor, not as famous as his older brother, but he has the skill non the less. Dave has yet to be cast for a leading role. So when Jess tells him she got a leading role for him.
It's not the role he was expecting. He is offered to play the role of Jess her boyfriend and accompany her to her cousins wedding so her family doesn't find out she lied.

What did I like about this book:
I liked the banter between Jess and Dave. They are good together, they have chemistry.
I liked the concept of the story and I liked how it turned out in the end.

Review "The Girl and her Ren by Pepper Winters"

ARC

“What do you do when you write down all your secrets? No…that’s not enough. What do you do when you write down all your secrets and the one person who should never read them does?
I’ll tell you what you do.
You hope.”

REN
Ren didn’t know the meaning of love until he took Della for his own.
To begin with he hated her, but as the months bled into years, he learned the opposite of hate, dedicating his life to giving her everything.
Every sacrifice, every gift, he gave wholeheartedly.
But then love turned to lust and ruined everything.

DELLA
I was stupid to write my secrets down, but I’d been stupid before so it was nothing new.
I couldn’t blame him, hate him, fix him.
I tried to move on without him.
But no matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to delete the secrets I’d written.
Until something happened.
Until he came back and read my stupid secrets.
And nothing was the same after that.

"For Della and Jacob"

"Some say our romance is over. That his death ruins our story. And I'd agree, but only because romance can be killed, but love..it can't. It lived on, and I'm patient enough to wait for our happily ever after."

"When you love that deeply, nothing can ever die."

"Love transcends time, space, distance, universes. Love can't be confined to pages or photos or memories- it's forever alive and wild and free. Romance comes and goes, lust flickers and smoulders, trials appear and test, life gets in the way and educates, pain can derail happiness, joy can delete sadness, togetherness is more than just a fairy-tale...it's a choice.
A choice to love and cherish and honour and trust and adore.
A choice to choose love, all while knowing it has the power to break you.
A choice dear friends, to give someone you entire heart.
But in the end, love is what life is about. And love is the purpose of everything."

Review:
I will say it one more time, just incase you didn't guess it yet but this review will be full of spoilers. I can't talk about this book without spoiling. So be warned.

This book is so heartbreakingly good. It broke my heart. I hardly cry over book, but this book made me bawl. I spoiled the ending for myself and even the author warns us that this book will be about live, about how live can be full of hardship, sadness and despair. Even though I knew, saw it coming and was warned on top of that, it still broke my heart. I bawled my eyes out. I can't write my review without my eyes tearing up. I couldn't write my favorite quotes without my heart wrenching in sadness and a desire to cry some more.
Ren deserved more, he deserved so much more than live offered him. He deserved a miracle and so did Della. But sadly that isn't live, not often anyways.
This book hurt, reading it hurt, it hit me hard. But it is worth is. His story, their story is worth it. It is a story that you just can't tell and not read. It's an amazing story. It is a story about love, about how love is worth anything. That love is what this live is about, no matter how hard. Live isn't fair, life is painful but it is also good, and amazing and so worth it if you can find that love that transcends time. A love that will go on forever and that's the kind of love we see in this book. A love that will never stop.
This book will stay with me for a long time, I doubt I'll ever forget it. It's a story that maybe in time I will be able to reread but I doubt it will ever be without tears.

What is this book about:
As I've said before this book is about love. It's about life in all it's way. It's about finding that person you will give your entire being to and hope they give it to you in return. It's about living live to the fullest you could. It's about pain, cruelty, hardship, sadness. It's about the bad, cruel side of life but also about the amazing wonderful side of live.

This book takes off where the last one ended. Ren left Della and both of them are suffering for it. They are miserable apart. Ren is struggling with accepting how he's felt all along and dealing with the moral issue of it. After all he did raise Della, saw her in every phase of her live. Loved her in all the different way's you can love some one.
After coming to the realization that he is in fact in love with her, Ren goes back. But even though he figured out his feelings, he's still struggling. He and Della are giving it a try, and it's the best decision they ever made.
They go back home, go back to the woods and live wild and free. They are free to do whatever they please, be together in whatever way they want.
After a few years and certain events, Ren wants to give Della more. He wants to give her security, a roof over her head, money to support her. He wants to give her everything.
And so he does. Unfortunate events make them go back to the place they spend allot of years, back at the farm with John.
There they begin building a live together. But things don't remain good. After all the pain live dealt Ren, it decides to make matters worse, Ren is sick. Terminally ill, no cure.
He makes it his lives mission to get everything out of whatever time he has left, and fulfill the promise he made Della. To give her everything he can.

What did I love about this book:
I don't know how I feel about this book. I read to no be hit in the face with reality and this book didn't hit that quota. It hit me in the face big time. I loved the true love in this book. I loved seeing Ren happy. Seeing him more at peace at time. I loved his and Della's love story because it's a true one. It's a fierce and passionate one. A love that will never die.
I hate the pain, the cruelty, the fight to prolong an ending we know is coming. I hate the hardship, and the tears.
This is a very difficult book to read. It's hard to know that there is nothing you can do to change it, no real hope that it might be different. That somehow something changes and that miracles exist. It's real, this book is so very very real.
So i'm very conflicted about this book, my feelings are still all over the place.

The story of Della and Ren is so well written. Incredibly well done. It stayed true to the characters personality, to Ren's personality. A fighter, a survive to the very end. There are many things I haven't talk about in this book so don't think that the spoilers I've given sums up all the events that happen in this book because it's not. I've told the beginning and part of the ending, but not everything that happened in between. It's definitely worth the read. Just keep whine, chocolate and tissues near by, you will need it.

Review "Steel and Stone Series by Annette Marie"

Piper Griffiths wants one thing in life: To become a Consul, a keeper of the peace between humans and daemons. There are three obstacles in her way.

The first is Lyre. Incubus. Hotter than hell and with a wicked streak to match. His greatest mission in life is to annoy the crap out of her, but he isn't as harmless as he seems. The second is Ash. Draconian. Powerful. Dangerous. He knows too much and reveals nothing. Also, disturbingly attractive — and scary. Did she mention scary?

The third is the Sahar Stone. Top secret magical weapon of mass destruction. Previously hidden in her Consulate until thieves broke in, went on a murder spree, and disappeared with the weapon.

And they left Piper to take the fall for their crimes.

Now she’s on the run, her dreams of becoming a Consul shattered and every daemon in the city gunning to kill her. She’s dead on her own, but there’s no one she can trust — no one except two entirely untrustworthy daemons ... See problems one and two.

Quote: "Well." the announcer called jubilantly, "It seems the dragon has claimed his prize."

Review:
I liked this book. I was very interested in Ash's story. I like him in The Shadow Weavers series and really wanted to know how his story would develop.
I was really happy to see Lyre again although I found it difficult to see him with other women and flirting with Piper but I know it's something he has to do. So I got over that ahah.
I'm not a massive fan of Piper. I mean I liked her but I didn't love her. She's a bit immature, naive and over confident. A bit of a know it all but is still stuck under her fathers thumb. I don't like that man. When he ask Piper to jump, she might give him attitude and refuses but in the end she always asks how high.

What is this book about:
This book is about Ash. We meet him in The Shadow Weaver series. Ash is a draconian. A very powerful demon caste from the underworld. Ash "works"for the hades family that kind of runs the underworld.
We also see Lyre again, for those of you who haven't read the Spell Weaver series (do it now) Lyre is a incubus, also a demon caste from the underworld. He and Ash are friends and are usually seen together when they are on earth.
On one of their visits to the consulate on Earth, they meet Piper. Piper is a consul in training. Her father is the boss of that consulate.
The story starts with something big happening in the consulate and things go horrible wrong. It results in Piper, Lyre and Ash being fugitives and on the run for something Piper things non of them did. Piper is willing to do anything to make this right and clear her fathers and uncles names.

What did I like about this book:
I really liked learning more about Ash. Not that he is such a big sharer of secrets but we do get little bits. I also like seeing Lyre again. I found it funny to know things about him that other don't. Secrets he isn't sharing that I already know.
I liked seeing their journey and how the story is being set up.
Piper annoyed me at times. She kind of needs to learn better timing and wording. Sometimes I thought well she's learning and is getting better. She is broadening her view but then she would say or do something that made me thing other wise. I don't fully blame her, everything she thought she knew, her future is being turned up side down and she has a hard time cooping with that. But at some point I though come one girl, keep those eyes open.
I look forward to reading more about Piper, Lyre and Ash.

The most important rule for an Apprentice Consul is simple: Don't get involved with daemons. Well, Piper is planning to break that rule — big time.

After a near-deadly scandal with the Sahar Stone, she has the chance to return to the only life she's ever wanted. All she has to do to keep her Apprenticeship is forget about Ash and Lyre. Ash might be enigmatic and notoriously lethal, and Lyre might be as sinfully irresistible as he is irritating, but they’re not bad for a couple of daemons.

There's just one problem: Ash is missing.

Really, she shouldn't risk her future for him. He lied. He betrayed her. But he also saved her life, damn it. Wherever he is, he's in trouble, and if she doesn't save his sorry butt, who will? But with every dangerous secret she unravels, each one darker than the last, she slips deeper into Ash's world — a world with no escape for either of them.

Favorite Quote: "Death is easy. Living is difficult."

Review:
I liked this book. I can tell that the plot is slowly starting to develop in this one and the ending proved that to me. i think things will really start to go in the next few books.
Lyre and Ash are still my favorite characters in this book. Piper is showing improvement haha. She is still struggling with accepting her new world and views but she's getting there. It wouldn't be realistic if she just accepted it over night. So I understand but it still got on my nerves at some points.

What is this book about:
In this book we see Piper trying to get back to her old live. It isn't as easy as Piper would have thought. She is worried about Ash, especially after the news that he's missing. Even though she should stay out of it, she can't help but want to help him.
Together with Lyre she's trying to find Ash, and when they pin point his location it increases their worry. Piper is set on saving him though and goes to the underworld to find him and save him from the Hades family.
But the Ash she finds isn't the Ash she knew. He is being tortured, more than usually. And not only that, Piper proved herself to be very interesting to the Hades family, for she is the only one that showed capability into using the Sahar, a deadly powerful stone. The Hades family ( I forgot the dudes name) is willing to do whatever to gain control over Piper and therefor the Sahar by any means necessary.

What did I like about this book
I loved learning more about Ash and his past. Why he does some of the things he does.
I liked that Piper showed some more backbone. Going against her fathers orders and doing what she thing's is wright.
I like seeing the friendship and banter between Ash, Lyre and Piper.
That cliffhanger made me want to rush into reading the third book! Its starting to get really good!

Favorite Quote: "Ash has done so much more than capture her heart. He'd changed the very landscape of her soul."

Review:
This series is getting better and better with each book. It also gets more depth and is very interesting. There is allot building up and going on in this book.
Piper is getting less and less naive with each book. I can see more of her strengths trying to get through and I like that.

What is this book about:
This book continues to follow the story of Ash, Piper and Lyre. We start this book with Piper being send away to a private school. Ash, Lyre and Ash's sister are in hiding. Piper thought her live can't get any worse at this point but she was wrong. She got kidnapped by a fanatical group called the Gians. They want all demons gone from earth. But that isn't the biggest shock for Piper, the biggest shock is that her mother, who she thought was dead, wasn't dead. She is part of the Gians.
The Gians want to set Piper magic free and use her as a weapon in their fight against the demons. They don't particularly care that releasing Pipers magic is very dangerous for her, it can get her killed. Will Ash and Lyre be able to save Piper not only from the Gians but from her magic as well.

What did I like about this book:
I liked that we got to see more of the underworld. It was very interesting watching Piper learn more about her heritage and her magic.
I liked watching her and Ash have several moments.
I also like seeing more of Mysis again. I liked him in the Spell Weaver series and I still like him now. Not sure if I can trust him but he is very interesting.

This book again ends with a cliffhanger. I can't wait to see what's going to happen next.

Piper is feeling a bit overwhelmed. With Seiya and Lyre missing, Ash recovering from near fatal injuries, and the Gaians picking fights with daemons all over the city, a girl can’t help but think she might be in over her head. And this time, she’s on her own.

Before she even has a chance to investigate the Gaians’ new stockpile of mysterious, high-tech weaponry, an old enemy ambushes her: Samael’s henchman Raum. He wants Ash’s help and won’t take “get lost” for an answer. She doesn’t know if she can trust Raum, but even more than that, she can’t trust herself with Ash. Sooner or later he’ll catch up to her, and she fears she won’t be able to walk away from him a second time.

Despite her feelings, it will take their combined strength to face a frightening discovery about the Gaians. She and Ash begin to realize that the daemon war is coming to Earth, and they might be the only ones who can stop it — if it’s not already too late.

Review:
Finally! Finally, some progress in Piper and Ash's relationship. I'm so excited and happy about this.
I can tell this series is building up for a big finally in the next one. This book is my favorite in the series so far. I really like how Piper is becoming. She's growing up and feeling more confidant in herself and her abilities.

What is this book about
This book starts off where the last one ended. Piper left Ash in the overworld to heal. She went back to earth and found her father. She learned the city is in ruin, the consulates are no more. There have been attacks left and right and if that isn't enough Lyre and Seiya (Ash's sister) are missing.
Piper is doing whatever she can to find them but she needs help. She can't do it alone. Ash is her only hope and he isn't to pleased with her. Can they find Lyre and Seiya? Will they be able to defeat Samuel (head of the hades family, I finally remembered his name) or will their world be lost.
Not only that, Mysis (prince of the griffins in the overworld) isn't that pleased with Piper either. She keeps losing what Mysis feels is his, oh and she tried to kill him. Yeah she's very popular at the moment.

What did I like about this book:
I really liked this book. My favorite so far. I feel like were finally getting somewhere. There is so much going on in this one.
I liked the development in Piper and Ash's relationship. I was very happy about that one.
I liked seeing more about both the overworld and the underworld in this book. Everything seems to be getting together.

Piper thought she could handle the Sahar, the most powerful magical weapon in existence. She thought she could protect her loved ones and stop a war. She thought she could make a difference.

She was wrong, and her mistakes were paid for in blood.

Leaving her world—and her failures—behind, she retreats to the Underworld with Ash and the other draconians. They forge deep into long abandoned mountains, the first draconians to fly the valleys and passes in centuries—or so they thought. Until now, Ash’s mysterious heritage has been nothing but a name, but his presence does not go unnoticed. A new danger stalks him, one that may be even greater than what they escaped.

Cut off from the power she’d come to rely on and lost in a world where she doesn’t belong, Piper has never felt so hopeless. But she must find her strength, and find it quickly, before she loses Ash to an ancient power he can’t fight, before her home is devastated by the daemon war, and before her mind, body, and soul are consumed by the Sahar’s insidious magic.

Review:
I hard a hard time finishing this book, it wasn't that I didn't like the book or enjoyed reading it, because I did, I really did. I was in a bit of a slump and I didn't want the series to end I suppose.

What is this book about:
So this is the final book in the steel and stone series. Piper, Ash and Lyre are hiding from Samuel and his men and are trying to find a way to end it once and for all.
We see Piper becoming her true self, we see more of her abilities and she really really works hard to help.
We see Ash becoming who he never thought he would be. And Lyre is revealing a bit more about himself to Piper.
Ash will find an unlikely ally, one they never thought they'd have, one that could turn everything around and help them win the war against Samuel and the Hades family.
Piper is trying her hardest to rally the forces on earth to work together and join them in the fight.
And Lyre will have to face the people he has been hiding from for a long time.
Will they be able to defeat Samuel or will everything be lost...

What did I like about this book:
I really liked the development these characters went through. They came a long way from the first book. I didn't see much change in Lyre though because I always found him awesome and he remained that way.
I really liked how well Piper and Ash developed in their relationship and I really hope they'll remain together they are perfect for each other.
Like with the spell weaver series I understand the ending but it also made me feel like it was unfinished (and it is in away) it's just a different ending than regular romance ending. If that makes sense haha.
I did like what Ash said about their relationships, that they get to decides what works and that they'll do what makes them happy. I am anxious to see what happens in the future with Ash being the last Taroth and all and the line mustn't die out.
Overall I really loved this series. It's very well written and very interesting. I look forward to reading more about Ash,Lyre and his girl, piper, Misys and the others.

Review "Unknown Series by Wendy Higgins"

Amber Tate believes the worst thing she’ll suffer in life is dealing with the unrequited love she feels for her brother’s best friend, Rylen Fite. She also believes war is something unfortunate that happens places far, far away from her rural Nevada town. She’s wrong on both counts.

When an unknown organization meticulously bombs major cities in the United States and across the globe, a trickle-down effect spreads to remaining towns at an alarming speed—everything from food and water sources to technology and communications are compromised. Without leadership, the nation is split between paralysis and panic, but Amber isn’t one to hide or watch helplessly. She’s determined to put her nursing skills to use, despite the danger, even if it means working alongside the man she can never have.

Review:
I am surprised by how much I loved this book. It's a very interesting concept and very well written. I really liked the characters as well
I loved the romance in this book. It was a bit frustrating at certain points, and I shouldn't be happy with how some things went but I was.
The book went in a way that I wasn't expecting. I can't wait to read one. Can't put this series down.
This book was a set up for the rest of the series and I can't wait to see where it goes.

What is this book about:
So this book is about Amber and Rylen. While they are the main characters, there are actually many other characters that I would describe as main as well like Ambers brother Jacob (also known as Tater) and her best friend Remy.
Anyhow in this book we see the world being build. We meet these characters when they are young. We see them growing up and we really get to know them.
Amber always has been in love with her brothers friend and neighbor Rylen. They never really got together and she tried to move on but she just couldn't.
After what seems like a terrorist attack Rylen and Tater both join the army. After that there isn't much happening for a few years. Rylen is mostly overseas and Amber is working as a paramedic on a ambulance.
They thought the attack five years ago might be just that but unfortunately there is another attack, and another which leaves all the us leaders dead, except one. There is total mayhem and chaos. People are trying to figure out what is going on. There is no electricity and no more internet, phones etc etc.
To make matters worse for Amber, Rylen comes home and he isn't alone...

What did I like about this book
I like the set up in this book. It feels very real to me. Like this could actually happen. Wendy took her time building this book up and that really worked for me.
I really like Amber. She seems like a strong girl that has her heart in the right place. I also like Rylen, he didn't have it easy growing up.
My heart went out for Amber though, to be in love with someone that doesn't love her back, or so she things, is hard.
I was rooting so hard for them and my heart broke at some point. It broke so hard that I was happy with the way the book ended. And I really shouldn't be happy about that.
This book ends with a cliffhanger so be aware of that one and have book two ready to go.

Review:
This series keeps getting better and better. It feels so realistic. It's full of action and trill. Wendy did an amazing thing writing this book. Although this one isn't as action packed as the first one is, it does has action in it. There are still allot of things going on. Just different things than in the first one.

What is this book about:
So this book start right where the last one ended. Rylen, Amber, Tater, and Remy are trying to recover from the catastrophic ending of the first book. They lost so many people and they are still morning. But they don't have time to sit still and wait. Together with the rest of their crew/friends (army buddies from Rylen and Tater) they are trying to find a military bunker and go from there.
Getting there isn't as easy as it is. Gas isn't easy to come by, the weather isn't cooperating, no more supermarkets that have tons of food, humans that just won't play nice, and ofcourse the aliens that took over the world.

What did l love about this book
I loved that this book showed some realistic struggles. No more shaving, no more regular meals, no more electricity, no more security, no more nothing. I liked how realistic Wendy kept it.
I liked seeing Rylen and Amber interact with eachother. There is so much sitting between them, that's holding them back and I just want to give them that push and tell them to talk it out and get together already. I understand Ambers struggles though. Timing is important with situations like this. I'm so glad the finally managed to work it out. I was so excited.
I liked the flow in this book. It's different from the first book that had allot of changes happening, while this one has a bit more of a steady phase. This one is the journey from A to B. I have high hopes for the last one. Everything is set up for a huge action packed finally.

Amber Tate never dreamed their heart-wrenching escape from the enemy’s attack would lead them to the most beautiful place she’s ever seen, marred by one ugly fact; it’s under enemy control. Like everywhere else in the world, Elmendorf military base in Alaska has been captured, and it’s time to take it back—all of it—one base, one city at a time. After losing so much, Amber clings to the only precious person she has left, and vows to sacrifice everything to help save the Earth.

Remy Haines is a lover, not a fighter, so when she finds herself in enemy territory, expected to feign allegiance while gathering intel for the rebel cause, she’s never been more out of her element. Tensions only increase when her feelings for Jacob “Tater” Tate won’t go away, and the enemy’s leader takes an interest in her. She’s torn between what her heart wants, and what she knows she should do. As for what her body needs…well, it’s always had a mind of its own.

Quote: “You shouldn’t underestimate the soft ones.”

Review:
After the cliffhanger from the last book I was rushing to start this book. It surly didn't disappoint. I loved it.
We got a few more pov's in this book. Normally I'm not a big fan of multiple pov's but in this case it was done well and provided more insight in the situation.
I liked how everything got together. I loved that the main characters finally got to be together. It took them a while. I was glad to see how that progressed.
I think this book would have made an interesting movie, one that I would surly watch.
Wendy did a great job writing her first NA novel. I'm hoping she'll write more of it. She has a nice writing style and is a very nice and sweet person.

What is this book about
This book takes off right where the last one ended. Our group got split up. Tater and Remy where taken by the enemy and Amber and Rylen are working with the resistance to take their world back.
There is allot of action in this book and we see it from two different sides. One side from the resistance point of view and one from behind the enemy lines pov.
We learn more about the invaders and what their goals are. We see more about them and what makes them tick.

What did I love about this book:
I loved seeing the plot evolve from different sides. It really gave us a complete story.
I loved seeing Rylen and Amber finally together and being a couple. They deserve to be happy after everything that that happened.
I really liked how everything came together. This book is full of suspense, and action. It worked out really well.
I've said it before but I think this series would make a great movie. I'd love to see it turn into one or a series and I for one will watch it.
I think this series will be one of those series that I will reread once in a while.
