Review:
I have to say I wasn't really sure I was going to like this book in the beginning. I was feeling a bit confused. Like I missed a prologue or the first couple of chapters. I was scrolling back a bit in the beginning and then I found there was a prequel novella. I debated pausing this book to read that one but I decided to keep on reading. I figured out what happened and what was going on pretty soon after that.
What is this book about:
In this book we are in a post apocalyptic world. A decease called scorpius spread through the world, it either killed people or turned them into psychopath/sociopaths killers. There is no cure. Some of the people that survived the fever didn't get turned into crazed killers if they got a shot of Vitamin B and regularly keep on getting a shot.
Lynne Harmony was the head of the research department of the CDC, she was tasked with finding a cure but sadly one of her coworkers went crazy and infected her with the decease. In an effort to cure her she was administered a experimental drug, one that saved her live but also turned her heart blue. She quickly became a lab rat but managed to escape when she realized the president of the united states was a ripper (this is what they called the people that survived the scorpius disease and got turned into crazy killers). But it hasn't been easy, half of the people are scared of her and blame her thinking she spread the decease on purpose and the rest thinks she holds the cure in her blue heart. The rumors the president made up about her didn't help much either.
Lynne makes her way to the territory of a man called Jax Mercury. Jax is a ex soldier who created a safe haven for survivors. Lynne hopes to strike a deal with Jax. She will help him find a cure for Scorpius if he keeps her save. Tensions grows between them. The more time they spend together the more they realize that in today's world there are no guarantees. If you find something to hold on to, don't let it go.
What did I like about this book:
I liked the world building and the concept. It reminded me of the movie called the crazies. I was excited to see how Rebecca would spin the story. I loved her Sin Brother series, its my favorite of hers to date.
I liked how protective Jax was of his people and Lynne. He could be a bit over the top at times but Lynne really tried to hold her own. She isn't a pushover and while she caved from time to time she didn't go against her own morals. Their relationship did go a bit fast for my liking. They where in love withing the span of a week or two. But I expected it going in having read rebecca's other works and it somehow fit the story. Its an extreme situation and that causes people to have a more extreme reaction that they would normally have. Be aware Jax does something that I didn't really agree with, like whipping Lynne to make a point but he does apologize for it later after she calls him out on it. It doesn't happen again.
The suspense and thrill was really good in this book and I can't wait to see how the rest of the story turns out. I hope the crazy president gets what he deserves.
I wished Rebecca took the time to set this book up a bit better, give some more background and stuff but as I said before I figured it out pretty quickly. It didn't ruin the story for me but it could have made it better.

Before the Scorpius Syndrome tore through North America and nearly wiped out the population, Vivienne Kennedy was the FBI's best profiler. The bacteria got her anyway. But she survived. She recovered. And when she woke up from a drug-nightmare of captivity, her skills as a hunter of men had gone from merely brilliant to full-on uncanny. Her mysterious rescuer wants her to put them to the test. But no matter how tempting he is, with his angel's eyes and devil's tongue, Vinnie knows she shouldn't trust him.

Review:
This is the second book in the Scorpius Syndrome series. It was easier for me to get into it than it was for the first book, as the world was already build etc. I was very curious about Raze's story. He was such an intriguing character in the first book. The little bit of Vinnie we saw in book 1 made me wonder about her character as well. She appeared really strong.
What is this book about:
Set in a post Apocalyptic world, where the term Rippers doesn't just refer to Jack the Ripper but to the crazy, psychopath killers that got effected by the Scorpius disease. So not only do our characters have a bunch of crazy killers running around, the most dangerous ripper of them all, the president of the united states is also after their asses. Put in the "normal" drama of gangs and cults etc, it makes for a very hard world to survive in.
Raze is an ex navy seal, he knows how to fight and how to survive. He would do anything for his family. So when his sister gets kidnapped by a rival "gang" he is doing whatever he must to get her back. The only thing he has to do is deliver Vinnie to this gang and he'll get his sister back. Easy right? Well it stopped being easy the minute Raze met Vinnie. A strong, incredibly smart woman that doesn't yield to his demands and orders. Someone that makes him feel and want again. This certainly complicates things....
What did I like about this book:
I liked how the underlying story progressed throughout this book. It's something that has been a similar factor in Rebecca's other series, the sin brother series, so I expected it.
There was allot going on in this book. Like allot. The camp got attacked allot and the president is still hell bent on getting Lynne and Vinnie back. So there was plenty of action and suspense. As well as plenty of hot and sexy moments.
One thing I missed in this book is the development of Vinnie becoming psychic. Like is she or isn't she. She mentions seeing things, sometimes feeling things that others are feeling, or mentions picking up some of other peoples thoughts but it doesn't really get mentioned allot.
Another thing that bugged me a little bit is Raze's attitude. He kept seeing Vinnie as really fragile but the woman proved that she is strong, I mean she did survive being tortured by the president for weeks. He also kept telling her to obey him, that a wife should be submissive etc. Like go back to the 17 century my man. I did like Vinnie telling him that. She didn't just submit to him. I mean if thats what someone likes, all the more power to them, but it's not oke of Raze to just expect that. I don't mind it in the bedroom, not at all but I didn't like that he expected it outside of the bedroom as well. A woman should be his equal, not lesser. I don't know if he see's her as lesser persee, but that is how it comes across sometimes.
Overall I really liked the story. I can't wait to read the next book and see where it takes our guys!

Review "The Living Canvas by Pepper Winters"
“Must be brave, stubborn, and impervious to the tempers of loved ones.”
The first line hissed with history.
“Hours are endless, pay is non-existence, quitting absolutely forbidden.”
The second line ached with truth.
“Able to function on no sleep, refrain from running when times get hard, and be more than just a living canvas but a lover.”
The third thrummed with honesty.
“Other attributes required: forgiving, opinionated, and not afraid to tell me when I’m wrong. Must also enjoy being touched and kissed at any time of my choosing.”
The fourth glowed with promise.
“Call or email ‘YOUR HEART, HIS SOUL’ if interested in applying.”
The final made my future unfold.
The advert was so similar to one I should never have applied for.
A twist of fate that brought two destined people back together.
A job I would take in a heartbeat if the employer could offer such terms.
But I wasn’t free.
Neither was Gil.
Therefore, my interview could never happen.

Review:
I couldn't wait to dive into this book. Especially with the way the last one ended, I couldn't wait. I read it in one sitting. I'll try and keep this review spoiler free. If some things don't make sense then I hope they will after you've read this book.
Things get resolved quite quickly. Quicker and a bit different than I expected to. I doubted Gil but I learned that I shouldn't have.
Still not sure how I feel about Olin. She is a nice person, perhaps a bit to nice, but she did somethings a bit backwards. When Gil was beging her to leave, she refused and stayed, but now when Gil asked her to say, she was like no. Like timing woman haha. So yeah she was still a bit all over the place as she was in book one. I think it's part of who she is. I do admire how far she was willing to go for the person she loved. Not many people could take what she had to endure and still keep doing everything for that person. Think of that what you will.
What is this book about:
This book picks up where the first one ended. Gill has hit rock bottom, he couldn't get away from his tormentor anymore. He has to give up the woman he loved in order to get his daughter back.
He is desperately trying to figure out a way to save both of them.
Olin is devastated, she can't believe the things Gill is involved in, she doesn't understand why. Why is he doing this and why didn't he get help when he had the chance.
When things take a turn for the worse can Gill make up for the things he did or is everything destroyed forever.
What did I like about this book:
I liked the suspense. The emotions in this book felt so real. I could really feel Gills desperation, his anxiety, his guilt but also his love and his desire to do the right thing. I could feel how conflicted Olin was and some points she made I could agree with.
Olin isn't my favorite heroine, she was t0o wishy washy and was to much of a pushover for me but she and Gill made it work.
I really liked Justin, he is a great friend. I don't think both Olin nor Gill could have found a friend more loyal than Justin.

Review: "Capturing the Devil by Kerri Maniscalco"
In the shocking finale to the bestselling series that began with Stalking Jack the Ripper, Audrey Rose and Thomas are on the hunt for the depraved, elusive killer known as the White City Devil. A deadly game of cat-and-mouse has them fighting to stay one step ahead of the brilliant serial killer---or see their fateful romance cut short by unspeakable tragedy.
Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell have landed in America, a bold, brash land unlike the genteel streets of London they knew. But like London, the city of Chicago hides its dark secrets well. When the two attend the spectacular World's Fair, they find the once-in-a-lifetime event tainted with reports of missing people and unsolved murders.
Determined to help, Audrey Rose and Thomas begin their investigations, only to find themselves facing a serial killer unlike any they've heard of before. Identifying him is one thing, but capturing him---and getting dangerously lost in the infamous Murder Hotel he constructed as a terrifying torture device---is another.
Will Audrey Rose and Thomas see their last mystery to the end---together and in love---or will their fortunes finally run out when their most depraved adversary makes one final, devastating kill?

Review:
I started this book at midnight, the second it hit my kindle. This was honestly one of my most anticipated reads of this year. I planned to read just a few chapters before going to bed but then that plot twist hit and I had to keep on reading. I finished at 4am in the morning.
The book was really good! Now I'm a bit sad that it's over though.
What is this book about:
The book starts off where the last one ended. Audrey-Rose and Thomas just arrived in America and discovered they, well not they personally but the ship they where on, delivered America it's own Jack the Ripper.
Things seem to be progressing well between Audrey Rose and Thomas. They are back on track after their hick up in book 3, but not everyone seems to be on board with their love. Someone is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure they don't get married.
With a race against the clock Audrey Rose and Thomas are trying to catch the Devil before he kills again and before everything they worked for, everything they wanted gets ripped away from them.
What did I love about this book:
I love Audrey Rose and Thomas's relationship. They are for sure one of my OTP. I love their growth and how they worked together.
My heart stopped at their wedding. For those of you who read the book, you'll know why. I honestly sped read through the rest of the book because I had to know how things would work out. How they could possibly fix the damage.
I hated Thomas's father so so so much. I can't phantom why he would do that to his on child, to his own children. By the end I was still so mad at him, and I couldn't grasp why Audrey Rose and Thomas let him be at their wedding in the end. Like my god, I would have tossed his sorry ass off a cliff and call it an accident.
Overall it was a great conclusion to the series. The series took a twist I didn't expect when I read the first book. Everything came together so well.
Kerri has raw skill and talent, it's amazing that this is her first series. I can't wait to see what else she can come up with.

Review: "The Burning Shadow by Jennifer L. Armentrout
When Evelyn Dasher crossed paths with Luc, she was thrown headfirst into the world of the Lux—only to discover that she was already far more involved in their world than she ever suspected.
Because the Luxen aren’t the only ones with a hidden past. There’s a gap in Evie’s memory, lost months of her life and a lingering sense that something happened, something she can’t remember and nobody is willing to tell her. She needs to find out the truth about who she is—and who she was. But every answer she finds only brings up more questions.
Her search for the truth brings her ever closer to Luc, the Origin at the center of it all. He’s powerful, arrogant, inhumanly beautiful, extremely dangerous…and possibly in love with her. But even as Evie falls for him, she can’t help but wonder if his attraction is to her, or to the memory of a girl who no longer exists.
And all the while, a new threat looms: reports of a flu-like, fatal virus that the government insists is being spread by Luxen. A horrifying illness that changes whoever it touches, spreading panic across a country already at its breaking point.

Review:
I was excited for this book. Especially with the way the first one ended! This book is everything we could ever want. Lots of action, angst, and swoon worthy moments. Be aware this book also ends in somewhat of a cliffhanger.
What is this book about:
This book begins where the first one ended. Evie or Nadia is having somewhat of an identity crisis. Who is she? She isn't the real Evie and she doesn't remember being Nadia. Luc is doing everything he can to help her but Evie isn't sure he just wants her because she was Nadia, and not for who she is now.
To make matters worse things with the luxen are escalating. People are getting killed and are blaming the luxen. The government is making some questionable choices, choices that are suspiciously similar to what happened in the second world war and that are happening with the immigrant in the united states.
Thats already enough to deal with one would think. But that's not all, strange things are happening to Evie. Things that makes everyone wonder what happened to Evie when Luc dropped her off at syliva's What else did Jason and Sylvia do beside curing evie. How did they do it?
When the past catches up with you, there aren't many places you can run to.
What did I love about this book:
I love the mystery and suspense of this book. Some twist I guessed early on and some I guessed a bit later and I was thrilled I got it right.
I love how dedicated Luc is to Evie. It's hard for me to see him as a swoon worthy romantic intrest because it makes me feel like a cradle robber since we met him when he was just a kid. But he is very swoon worthy with Evie. If we didn't meet him as a child I would have fell in love with him I think.
One thing I loved as well is that for once the roles where reversed. Luc ( the guy) being the virgin for once and not the girl ( evie)
I absolutely loved seeing Damon and the others again! I can't wait for book 3 to come. It can't get here soon enough

Review: The Body Painter by Pepper Winters
“Must be slim, able to stand for long periods of time, and be impervious to the cold.”
The headline caught my attention.
“Hours are negotiable, pay is minimal, clothing absolutely forbidden.”
The second line piqued my curiosity.
“Able to hold your bladder and tongue, refrain from opinions or suggestions, and be the perfect living canvas.”
The third made me scowl.
“Other attributes required: non-ticklish, contortionist, and obedient. Must also enjoy being studied while naked in a crowd.”
The fourth made me shudder.
“Call or email ‘YOUR SKIN, HIS CANVAS’ if interested in applying.”
The final made my heart race.
I should’ve kept scrolling past the advertisement.
I should’ve applied for the boring receptionist job at minimum wage.
I should’ve clicked on any other job where I got to keep my clothes on.
But I didn’t.
I applied.
My interview is tomorrow…

Review:
I don't even know where to begin or what to say. I am speechless and at the same time I want to scream. This book, my dear god. If you aren't a fan of cliffhangers then I beg you, wait for book two because this cliffhanger will leave you gasping, mind blown, and wanting for more.
What is this book about:
This book is about Olin, a popular rich girl, and Gil(bert) a tortured anti social poor kid. Atleast thats how they met. Two teenagers from opposite worlds. Appearances dont mean everything. They do have several things incomon though, both come from worlds of neglect, both are in love with eachother and both would do anything for each other no matter the cost.
When Gil suddenly breaks up with her, Olin is heart broken. Years later she still isn't over him. So when fate brings both of them together she is determent not to let him go. But he isn't the man she knew. He is determant to keep her away from him but she just doesnt want to listen. He keeps telling her that he isn't good for her, that it isn't save for her, she still doen'st want to hear it....until its to late
What did I like about it
I must admit this book isn't my favorite of peppers. I wasn't sure what to expect but I wasn't quite expecting this. There was a lot of repetitiveness between Olin and Gil. He'd be a dick, she forgives him, he is an bigger dick, she things enough is enough but forgives him seconds later. He keeps trying to make her leave, keeps telling her he doesn't want her, but she just wont leave. She is determent to help him, even when he doesn't want her help. It was hard to see sometimes. I get wanting to do whatever to help the person you love but you can't fix someone, can't help them especially when they don't want to be helped. And it's hard when everything, except their words, tells you that they are drowning and need help. And that's what Olin keeps telling herself.
I wish she had a bit more of a backbone, a bit more respect for herself but years of loneliness makes her crave the one person that filled those holes inside her, the one person that got her. I am struggling to connect with her continues willingness to forgive gil and take his shit, for her forgiving nature because i'm not like that. I had a hard time understanding why she was so desperate about Gil. Reading on made me see it a bit more. Her desire to fix other people to deal with the crippling loneliness within her.
Eventhough Gil was such an ass you know something big happened and is happening to make him act that way. You can see him struggling, you can see him being eaten alive by something, you know he is suffering, you see that he is so desperate to fix something while only sinking. He could have gone a different way about it, it's not cool how he acted but man that ending made me see why. Because holy shit that ending blew everything wide open. Poor poor gil. He gave everything for Olin. And eventhough she wanted to help him so much she made it even worse, for gil and for herself. I really need the next book, I need to know how it will go on. I just need it so much.
The suspense in this book is so danm good. I had such a hard time putting it down. I wanted to smack those two so much but I couldn't not read it. Pepper is so good at evoking emotions and this book is just a start. Shit just got real people.

Review: "The King by Jennifer L. Armentrout"
As Caden and Brighton's attraction grows despite the odds stacked against a happily ever after, they must work together to stop an Ancient fae from releasing the Queen, who wants nothing more than to see Caden become the evil Prince once feared by fae and mortals alike.
Title: The King ( A Wicked Trilogy #3.5)
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publisher: Evil Eye Concepts Incorporated
Edition: Kindle
Amount of Pages: 198
Genre: Fantasy, Adult, Romance
Date Read: 15-07-2019
Favorite Quote: “They did take a lot from you, Brighton. Your mother. Your contentment. But it also seems like you gained a lot. Not from them, but from yourself.”
Review:
This book was one of my highly anticipated reads and it sure didn't disappoint! I did a reread of the whole series to prepare me for this book.
Warning for those of you waiting to read this book because you don't like cliffhangers, this one has a huge one. There will be a third book called The Queen.
What is this book about:
This book starts of where the last one ended. Caden is no longer the Prince, but he is the King now. He broke it of with Brighton but he can't seem to stay away from her. All Caden wants is for Brighton to back of and stay save. Well Brighton doesn't want to hear any of it though. She want justice to what was done to her. Not even Caden can keep her from getting it.
What did I love about this book
I absolutely loved Brighton in this book. I won't give away any spoiler but man that girl is a bad ass! She is so so strong and I really admired her in this book.
There was a twist in this book that I saw coming and am not a huge fan of that trope. However I am curious to see how it all turns out in the last book.
I can see where Caden is coming from but man the dude was a huge dick sometimes. Like really dude, not cool man. I really hope he is going to do some groveling in the next book.
Overall this book was amazing, it was action packed, hot, and just awesome. I really loved it. Couldn't put it down!

Title: Make Me Lose
Author: Ember Leigh
Genre: Contemporary Romance
About Make Me Lose:
Grayson Daly and I aren’t just rivals. We’re enemies.
Born minutes apart on the same day in the same hospital, our parents thought this meant we were somehow destined to be together. We knew were we just destined to beat each other.
Competition boiled over until junior year, when the cold war turned into an unexpected peace offering. Maybe my hormones allowed me to notice his broad shoulders, stormy gray-blue eyes, and soccer star’s chiseled frame. But after I fell for him…he stomped all over my heart.
Ten years later, I’m at the top of the realty game in Bayshore and Grayson is just a distant memory. Until he shows up from NYC, his ego bigger than a skyscraper, and asks me to sell the house he recently inherited.
It’s easy to say no. Even though I want to climb him like the jungle gyms we used to dangle from in strong arm battles.
But I forgot that Gray doesn’t take no for an answer. And that he isn’t content unless he’s defeating me.
He butts into my evenings on the boat. Ropes me into water skiing battles. Even shows up at the bar and creates a scene when I’m scouting a date to the upcoming Bicentennial Ball.
It’s almost like he’s gunning to win me.
But if he wins, that means I lose.
And I’m not ready to cede victory just yet.

Exclusive Excerpt:
Grayson cocks a smirk, the type that takes me right back to that psychotic period when I fell in love with him for three months. Except now he’s older, more refined. He’s got on a medium-gray suit that sits halfway between Billionaire Chic and Vogue model. Alligator shoes that come to a point. He stuffs his hands in his pockets as he begins an intolerable saunter toward me.
“You’re really going to act like you don’t know who I am?”
The gruff bass of his voice sends heat straight to my pussy. I blink demurely for a few moments, feigning my best confused face. I squint at him. I let it draw out. Maybe too long.
“Hazel,” he says. “Cut the crap.”
His commanding tone irritates me so much that I do exactly as he says. I set my lips in a thin line. “Oh, jeez. Yes, Grayson Daly. It can only be you.” I avoid his gaze as I set to work reorganizing my desk. Anything to avoid looking at his impossibly handsome frame, his dark hair clipped short on the sides but longer on top, allowing one delectable finger wave to emerge. “Sorry, I didn’t recognize you.” I can’t help myself. The words fly out. “You got old.”
He cocks his head to the side, an expression like oh, come on creasing his face. “I’m ten minutes older than you, so I assume you feel the same way about yourself.”
Ugh. He always threw that ten minutes older than you crap in my face growing up. Like it allowed him to ultimately win. Well not anymore. I’m taking my ten extra minutes of youthfulness and running with it.
“I’m as perky and bright as they come,” I say, tossing him a plasticized smile. “A veritable fountain of youth.” As I face him down, I try to see myself in my mind’s eye. Hoping my fire-engine red lipstick isn’t smeared. It never is, but on the day that Grayson shows up, you can never be too sure. I thank the gods above that I got my eyebrows done earlier this week. I would have prepped more, had I known Grayson was going to saunter into my office as if he was auditioning for the role of Unaffected Businessman. But I’ll have to work with what I’ve got. “Now, how may I help you, sir?”
An annoyed burst of air rushes past his lips. Treating him like I don’t know him, don’t care about him—this is my new plan of attack.
“Thought you might be able to help me sell a house.” He works his jaw back and forth as his gaze skates around my office. “I won’t be needing it, since you couldn’t pay me a million dollars to live in Bayshore.”

Excerpt:
“I don’t think this is wise,” Tink said for what had to be the hundredth time since he realized I was getting ready for a night out. “Like I think this is very poorly thought-out, if you ask me, Lite Bright.”
“I didn’t ask you, Tink.”
My uninvited roommate of sorts hovered outside my bathroom. Tink wasn’t human, but right now, he looked like any normal twenty-something guy. Well, if normal, twenty-something guys had natural, shockingly white hair and were beautiful in a way that almost seemed fragile.
This was his full-grown Tink size, something I was still—even after all this time—getting used to. I was more accustomed to pint-sized Tink with the translucent wings. After all, he was a brownie.
After the attack that had taken my mother’s life and should’ve ended mine, he’d basically moved in with me. He’d been here for the last two years, something Ivy’s husband pretended to be grateful for, but in reality, I knew he secretly missed the dude.
“You should ask me,” he replied. When I glanced over at him, I got a little distracted by the dazzle…emanating from the sequin tank top he wore. It was so shimmery that I wondered if he was using some of his magic.
Tink may be a goofball, but he was also one of the most powerful creatures in our realm.
Thank God there was only one of him.
“I am a wealth of amazing advice,” he continued. Dixon, the cat he’d named after a Walking Dead character that Tink called “the hottest redneck eva” slinked around Tink’s ankles. The cat was all gray except for his tail, which looked like it had been dipped in white paint.
I snorted. “When have you ever given me good advice?”
“When I told you two weeks ago not to eat the whole carton of beignets because you’d get sick and you did,” he shot back.
I winced, picking up my mascara. I had gotten sick, but I deserved that carton of sugary, fried goodness. That day…
I didn’t want to think about that day.
“And what about when you ordered that supreme pizza and ate almost all of it?” he said. “I told you that it would probably make you feel bad later.”
Nose wrinkling, I tried to remember what night he was talking about. There were a lot of Friday nights—pizza night in my household—that I ate an entire pie and felt terrible afterward.
“Or how about that time I told you that the seared ahi tuna looked a little gray for my liking? But, oh no, Brighton knows better.” He reached down, scratching Dixon between the ears. “You ate it all, and then I spent the night cleaning up your puke.”
Ew.
