Review "Unknown series by Wendy Higgins"

Amber Tate believes the worst thing she’ll suffer in life is dealing with the unrequited love she feels for her brother’s best friend, Rylen Fite. She also believes war is something unfortunate that happens places far, far away from her rural Nevada town. She’s wrong on both counts.

When an unknown organization meticulously bombs major cities in the United States and across the globe, a trickle-down effect spreads to remaining towns at an alarming speed—everything from food and water sources to technology and communications are compromised. Without leadership, the nation is split between paralysis and panic, but Amber isn’t one to hide or watch helplessly. She’s determined to put her nursing skills to use, despite the danger, even if it means working alongside the man she can never have.

Review:
I remember reading this book the first time and loving it, I couldn't put the series down and had to read it back to back. The same happened this time I read the book. I got pulled right back in and didn't want to get out. I loved it as much as I did the first time and that says something about Wendy's writing skills.

What is this book about:
This book is told from Ambers pov but it's more a story of many character. Amber and her brother Tater meet Rylen when they where kids. Rylen lives next door but not in the most stable house hold. Both of them are taken with Rylen the second they met them. Tater and Rylen become best friends immediately.
Another main character is Remy, Ambers best friend who she met in high school (if I remember correctly)
Over time Amber develops a huge crush on Rylen but he doesn't seem to notice. When Amber turns 16 the world biggest amusement parks get attacked by an unknown terrorist. This spars the boys into enlisting in the army.
Over the years nobody hears anything from the unknown attackers again. Rylen, Tater and Amber see each other a few times over the years and remain close. Amber tries to get over her crush buts can't seem to do it. She became a nurse but didn't get hired due to not many jobs available so she got a job as a paramedic and found her calling.
Just when people thought that maybe the attack was a one time thing, the whole world gets attacked again. Massive fall outs every where. Things only get weirder from then.

What did I like/love:
I love the build up, I loved that we got to know the characters and their history before diving in to the dystopia/apocalyptic part of the story. We can see things slowly getting worse over time.
I love that we also see how different people react to events differently. Amber felt more suspicious and didn't fully trust what was going on, while Remy believed what she was being told.

The tension between Rylen and Amber killed me. Especially when he came home. The people that read the book know what I mean. I was like are you kidding me. I knew it was coming but I still felt my heart racing.

Overall a great read.

What did I dislike/hate:
Nothing.

Review:
I couldn't wait to jump in to this book after the cliffhanger of the last one. I wanted to see how things would progress for our gang. And I desperately needed to see some progress between Rylen and Amber. The suspense is killing me.

What is this book about:
This book starts where the last one ended. We are following Tater, Amber, Remy and Rylen trying to survive the apocalypse basically. Besides them we also got a group of other of soldiers Ray Harris aka Texa Harry, Devon Price, Sean Wilcott, Matt Nelson, Mark Mahalchick and Josh Depaul, that completes our group. They are all trying to cope with what happened and trying to figure out how to survive what is going to happen. Their first priority is trying to get to a save place and then trying to figure out how to fight back.
As if that isn't enough Amber is still trying to deal with her feelings for Rylen. I think Remy said it best "Seriously Amber, the world's been taken over by freaking aliens and you're still cared to tell him you love him".

What did I like/love:
I love the characters in this book. The group is such a great group to read about. I seriously love all of them. It's no secret that I have a serious thing for Military men.
I love how despite everything everyone is still willing to fight. To protect our way of live and the people they care about. Something not all invaders took into account. It really showed how humans can survive and overcome anything if they choose to. That people can come together and fight as a unit if again, we choose to.
It took time but I was so glad to finally see some progress between Amber and Rylen. It was long overdue.

Another great read.

Amber Tate never dreamed their heart-wrenching escape from the enemy’s attack would lead them to the most beautiful place she’s ever seen, marred by one ugly fact; it’s under enemy control. Like everywhere else in the world, Elmendorf military base in Alaska has been captured, and it’s time to take it back—all of it—one base, one city at a time. After losing so much, Amber clings to the only precious person she has left, and vows to sacrifice everything to help save the Earth.

Remy Haines is a lover, not a fighter, so when she finds herself in enemy territory, expected to feign allegiance while gathering intel for the rebel cause, she’s never been more out of her element. Tensions only increase when her feelings for Jacob “Tater” Tate won’t go away, and the enemy’s leader takes an interest in her. She’s torn between what her heart wants, and what she knows she should do. As for what her body needs…well, it’s always had a mind of its own.

Review:
Great conclusion to a great series. This book ads Remy's pov. I remember not being to excited about that the first time around and in the beginning I felt the same. Not because I didn't like it but because I was so anxious to see what was going on with Rylen and Amber. But it does add some insight to the other side of this war. It was interesting to read.

What is this book about:
This book picks up where the last one ended. Amber and the others had to evacuate from their base. Linette, Tater and Remy didn't make it to the plane and are captured by the enemy.
Things are uncertain for Texas Harry, Devon, Sean, Matt, Mark, Josh, Rylen and Amber. They are trying their hardest to fight back and keep hope alive.
In the mean time Linette, Tater and Remy are trying to figure out how to survive amongst the enemy and to find a way to help our side win the war. Sacrifices will have to be made...but will it be worth it in the end?

What did I like/love:
I love the steps Rylen and Amber took in their relationship. They are great together. And it was about time as well.
I loved seeing everything come together. There was allot of buildup through out the series. In the end the final battle was over rather quickly but it got the job done.

Overall I just really liked this book. I liked how everything turned out and how the group was interacting with each other. They where all great together.
This series had allot of suspense as well. I really think they would make a great movie or series. Its still one of the best apocalypse/ dystopia/ invasion series I've read so far.
