Tears of Tess by Pepper Winters

Tears of Tess (Monsters in the Dark, #1) A New Adult Dark Contemporary Romance, not suitable for people sensitive to grief, slavery, and nonconsensual sex. A story about finding love in the strangest of places, a will of iron that grows from necessity, and forgiveness that may not be enough.

“My life was complete. Happy, content, everything neat and perfect.
Then it all changed.
I was sold.”

Tess Snow has everything she ever wanted: one more semester before a career in property development, a loving boyfriend, and a future dazzling bright with possibility.

For their two year anniversary, Brax surprises Tess with a romantic trip to Mexico. Sandy beaches, delicious cocktails, and soul-connecting sex set the mood for a wonderful holiday. With a full heart, and looking forward to a passion filled week, Tess is on top of the world.

But lusty paradise is shattered.

Kidnapped. Drugged. Stolen. Tess is forced into a world full of darkness and terror.

Captive and alone with no savior, no lover, no faith, no future, Tess evolves from terrified girl to fierce fighter. But no matter her strength, it can’t save her from the horror of being sold.

Can Brax find Tess before she’s broken and ruined, or will Tess’s new owner change her life forever?

Review

The summary of this book really intrigued me. I have read Captive in the Dark so I have read a dark contemporary book before. This book isn't as dark as Captive in the Dark. But it was dark and it was an mindfuck . I really questioned Q actions. He said he didn't want to hurt Tess but he did anyway. He said he didn't want to be her master, or doesn't want Tess calling him master but he wants tess to obey his every word. So that was a bit confusing for me.  After I read this I was like what do you want Q danm it.

This book really kept me on the tip of my chair the whole time. There were some really messed up stuff in this book that gave me chills all over my body.  Thank god nobody in my family saw that or they might question my sanity. Other than it was messed up, some of the stuff was really hot.  I'm not into the BDSM and stuff like that but  I can see why other people like it, to some content.  I seriously wouldn't want to get wiped or gagged or something like that. Or be put on display, hanging on the ceiling in a skimpy dress for dirty men to see.

Tess really has it rough. Her parents always told her she was unwanted, that she was never good enough. That all they cared for was her older brother. She has a loving and caring boyfriend Brax.  He is everything for her.  Except he only likes plain old vanilla sex. Tess wants more kinky sex and Brax doesn't want to. Tess got more than she bargained for.

She and brax were going on a surprise holiday to Mexico. She and Brax stopped for drinks in  a bar. Tess really has a bad feeling about this and she was right. The result. She was kidnapped, drugged, humiliated, raped, and sold as a slave.
Q, her new found master, isn't what Tess expected of him. He is an handsome, and rich man with blond hair. He is dominating, that's for sure but he doesn't seen keen on hurting her, To much that is. He is rather turned on by her stubborn and fighting nature. Tess is far from the broken slaves he has had in the past. But besides his dominating nature, there is more than meets the eye.

In the beginning I didn't like Q. At least I tried to, there was something about him. And by the end of the book I loved him. What a noble thing to do. I can't wait to read more.

I can't wait to meet Pepper in Edinburgh. I'm happy that there is more books with Q and Tess. I loved to see how there story develops. I wouldn't have mind it this was just one book but of course I won't say no to a series.
