Review "Falling by E.K. Blair"

Sometimes it takes someone else to show us what we are truly capable of becoming.

Suffering from years of violent abuse, Ryan Campbell has learned how to keep people from getting too close. But when you shut yourself off, people get hurt along the way. Never caring much about others, Ryan creates a world in which he doesn’t have to feel.

When Ryan meets Candace Parker, all of his walls slowly begin to crumble. Not sure of the truth of who she is, he feels his mind is playing tricks on him. Unable to force out the thoughts that consume him, Ryan is haunted by visions that torment him every time he looks at her. He finds himself swallowed by guilt and blame, but he’s unwilling to turn his back on the one person that could possibly save him.
You’ve heard Candace’s story in Fading, now hear Ryan’s.

 Review
I’ve read the first book, Fading which is written in Candace point of view, a while back. I never got the chance to read the book in Ryan’s point of view. And I must say I loved it so much.  Ryan is such a selfless caring guy and he was so patient and loving towards Candace. He really melts my heart.

What is this story about.

This story is the same as in the first book but in my opinion you don’t have to read that one to read and understand this one. Although the story is the same, there is so much more to it in my opinion. This story is in Ryan’s point of view. Ryan is a 28 man, and he’s just perfect.  It wasn’t described, in this book what he looks like and I don’t remember but I pictures a man with a very hot body, tall, dark messy hair with blue/green/grey eyes.
Ryan has a tough childhood. His father was an abusive drunk and because of that Ryan is scared to get involved with girls, like a  relationship, because he’s scared he’ll turn out like his father. Ryan owns a bar near campus which is quite successful  One night he hears some noise near the dumpster behind his bar but he thinks nothing of it until he hears a girl scream. He runs out to see what is going on and finds this girl being beaten and raped.  He doesn’t know who this girl is and neither the police or the hospital contacts him about anything related to the attack so he doesn’t know how this girl is doing and who she it. That night really messed with his head.
At his bar he needs a new band to play, and that’s how he became friends with mark and Jace. Jace is plays in the band that he booked for his bar.  One morning he sees this girl working in a coffee shop and she reminds him of the girl that was attacked near his bar but he convinced himself that she couldn’t be. It turns out that this girl is very close friends with Jace.  Ryan is really intrigued with this girl and wants to get to know her better.  He didn’t know how hard that would be. Candace is very hard to read, doesn’t trust people easily and doesn’t really open up to anyone except Jace.  Ryan doesn’t let that get in his way and he finds himself falling in love with her. Candace has her secrets and Ryan want to get her to open up to him, trust him, need him. But he doesn’t know he knew her secret all along. And that secret, the secret they both kept, is what might stand between them.
There are allot of amazing side characters in this book.  There are Jace and Mark of course. Then there was Max, he’s the head of security for Ryans bar. Then there’s Mel and Zane. Mel also works for Ryan behind the bar.
Then there are Ryans mother donna and his cousin Traci. Besides tracy Ryan has more cousins and they all have children but I don’t remember all their names. There are allot more side characters but I really don’t remember them all.

What did I love about this book.
I just loved Ryan. He is such an amazing caring guy. He went through so much himself and he still manages to put that aside and give everything he has for Candace. I see allot from Candace in myself, so I could relate to her in some way. I understood the things she did, and why she acted some times and I wanted to hate her for putting Ryan threw the things she did but I understood her. I didn’t like seeing Ryan so hurt but I understood where she’s coming from.
I really loved the story, it showed me you can trust people. You just have to find the right people to trust. I showed me that people are willing to fight and wait for you, but you have to give them a chance. You have to let them in.  Even though you’re scared shitless you have to try and push through it and try.   You don’t have to let the pain you felt in the past, keep you from living in the present.

Quotes

Pain is a reminder you’re still alive

"You are the only reason there’s light in my life. Before you, there was nothing but darkness."

"You’re not gonna get drunk, slap my ass, and tell me how sexy I am,  are you?"

Review "Beautiful Bitch by Christina Lauren"

Just when Chloe’s career starts to take off, Bennett wishes it would all slow down long enough to spend a wild night alone with his girlfriend. But after he refuses to take no for an answer, Chloe and Bennett find themselves with two plane tickets, one French Villa, and a surprising conversation that, predictably, leaves them wrestling under the covers.

Review
I’m not sure if I like this book. I found it very confusing, and in order to explain why properly I have to spoil some things so here is your warning.

What is this book about
I thought this book would take place after the events, including the epilogue in beautiful bastard. But this wasn’t the case.  The book starts with Bennett thinking about the moment after he and chloe rekindle at her presentation. It tells you that Bennett and Chloe where broken up and separated for two months, but the book doesn’t tell you why exactly. It only tells you that they had a rough time transitioning from hate fucking to loving each other. Apparently Bennett messed up, was a jerk, and Chloe left. There were also tons of new people in this book that chloe apparently knew her whole life.
Bennett wants to take some time off before he and chloe are moving to New York to open an new office for Ryan Media. Chloe doesn’t work for Bennett anymore but she still works for Ryan inc. At least that’s what I think, I’m not sure. Bennett and Chloe are very busy and they don’t see each other that much. Bennett wants to take a vacation to France together but Chloe doesn’t think it’s a good idea due having little time. In the end Bennett gets Chloe to say yes but they go on separate days. On top off all of this Chloe can’t get to France because there was a strike at the airport, causing her to be a view days late. In France, during a sex session, bennetts asks Chloe to marry him. No he tells her he wants to get married. It turns out that Chloe was also going to ask Bennett to marry her. This confused me because Bennett already asked Chloe in the sweetest way in France in the epilogue in Beautiful Bastard.

What did I think of this book
Like I tried to explain. It seems like this book was a bit random, just to give us more of Chloe and Bennett. Don’t get me wrong I like seeing more off Chloe and Bennett but I missed debt and background story in this book. It felt like Christina Lauren forgot some things from the first book while writing this one. I hoped this book would show how Bennett and Chloe were doing after the epilogue or show us what happened at the end of the book and the beginning of the epilogue but it just didn’t match. I also would liked to see some more information on what the hell happened and what was going on. We just didn’t get much of that in my opinion. So I someone reading this review and is like but I know what the hell happened or something, please let me know.
So overall I just like this book. It was oke. It wasn’t what I wished for and I’m sad that it wasn’t. There was so much potential in this book and It just didn’t meet that potential. It felt like the books or series wasn’t planned that well.
I did love seeing Bennett being the one to try and fix their relationship and try and spend some quality time together. He was really trying and put in allot of effort.

Review "Unchained by J.Lynn"

Between the pissed off creatures that want demon-hunter Lily Marks dead and the fallen angel who just...wants her, Lily is about ready to trade in forever for a comfy job in a cubicle farm.

The fact that she and Julian are civil to one another is enough to have her thrown out of the Sanctuary, but she can't shake her not-so-angelic stalker or how he brings her dangerously close to ecstasy.

Her forbidden relationship with Julian provides the perfect fuel for suspicion when a traitor is discovered to be working within the Sanctuary. Lily quickly finds herself hunted by well, everyone.

Her only hope is to discover the real traitor before she loses everything--and she'll need Julian's help. That is, if Julian is really there to help her...and not destroy her.

Yeah, being a Nephilim isn't everything it's cracked up to be.

Review

I have read this book many times and I still love it. Yes I’m not shocked anymore when I found out who is betraying information but the story still thrills me.

What is this story about.
This story is set in the world of the nephilim. The nephilim are the children of (fallen) angels and humans. The nephilim are responsible for fight the fallen angels, minions ( nephilim turned dark because of the fallen persuasion) and dead heads ( humans who’s bodies are possessed by another soul that isn’t willing to move on)
The main character in this story is Lilly, she is one of the view female nephilim and a very strong hunter. She has long auburn eyes, creamy skin and stunning green eyes. The main male character is named Julian. Julian is a fallen angel so you can imagine him being perfect.  He stands over Six and a half feet tall while Lilly is only five foot four…. In heels. He has sandy blond hair that comes to his shoulders. He has striking blue eyes and has sizzling features and of course a rock hard body.
Then there is Luke, Luke is lily’s best friend and they’ve know each other for a long time. Besides Luke the is Nathaniel, he is the head of the organization, named the sanctuary, that Lilly works for. Another important character in this book is Michael. Michael is an police officer that stumbles in the nephilim world, only he doesn’t realize it was his world all along.
Other than fighting the minions, dead heads, and fallen, lily is also fighting her attraction for Julian because it’s against the rules. She is supposed to kill Julian, not kiss him. But Julian is impossible to ignore and very fast and strong. Also he saved her live eight times and maybe many more times that Lilly doesn’t know about. On top of all that there’s also a moll in the sanctuary and lily is desperate to find out who it is, especially when she becomes a suspect.

What did I love about this book.
I loved the trill and suspense in this book. I also love the setting of it, I liked mythology. I loved the characters. I loved how strong and passionate lily is and I loved the sexy and strong Julian. I loved that this book shows you that there’s always a choice and that you shouldn’t judge a person on what their race or job is. That there’s always more to a person than what you might think or expect.

I could tell that this is one of the first books that Jennifer has written because her writing style has changed. The way she builds a world, characters and tells a story is still very strong and I love that.

Review "My Sweetest Escape by Chelsea M. Cameron"

Review
I liked this book, it was okey. I read my favorite mistake a while ago and I liked it.  In this book the characters where a bit controversial, and that’s okey but I didn’t expect it. Also the main character was 17 and that’s a bit below the age group I read about lately. Overall it was a okey book and I enjoyed it. It just wasn’t as good as some of the books I’ve read recently.

What is this book about.
This book focuses on the little sister from Renee, Joselyn aka Jos. Jos was a prim and proper girl until something happened causing her to chance completely. Jos is sent to live with her sister Renee. Renee lives with her boyfriend paul, Mase and Renee and Taylor and Hunter ( Taylor was the main character in the first book).
Jos has gone through her wild phase hard, causing her to drop out of her old university and transfer to another one. She is very closed off and doesn’t want to be helped. It doesn’t help that her sister has taking on the mother/big sister/ and prison guard roll and having all the other people in the house watch her like a hawk as well.
In the hospital ( when she had to tag along for her sisters shift), she met dusty, a guy with green eyes, dark hair and a bit of darkish skin. Dusty is a friend of hunters. During her second class she meets a this girl called Hannah. Hannah has allot of blond hair and a burn scar on the left side of her face and arm. They hit it off immediately.
This book is very similar to the first one. Both Jos and Dusty have a secret that they don’t want to share. Little do they know that there secrets are very similar.

What did I like about this book
I liked that this was an easy read. You didn’t have to focus much and it doesn’t take you on a emotional rollercoaster.
I liked the characters but I just didn’t love them. I just couldn’t love this book and I really wanted to. If I didn’t read some excellent books before this one, I might enjoy it more.
I did like that this book was about redemption and letting go of your past. It shoes that sometimes it’s worth trusting someone with you secret.  And that is great to have a close group of people that love and support you.
I also like Hannah very much. She was a very funny and strong girl and her sex metaphors where just hilarious.

Quotes that I liked.
Just smile. The world isn’t that bad. Besides, you have to have the bad parts so you recognize the good ones when they come along.

Tasty, Tasty man cake covered in sex frosting.

Review
So when you thought you seen it all in the first book, there comes the second book. There was still much more that happened in Lainey or now Samantha again, than was revealed in the first book. Kade is still struggling with his own past but he’s making progress.

What is this book about.
Well Samantha hopes she is safe from her sadist husband David but sadly she will never be safe until he’s dead. After finding out what David has done to Samantha, Kade is ready to torture and kill him. He still holds so much anger inside of him and he doesn’t know how to release it other than rearrange a room, meaning he beats the crap out of it.
Samantha and Kade are really working on their relationships but their past still holds them back. Even when Samantha’s past comes back to hunt her down.

What did I love about this book
Again the suspense and realness of the characters feelings where just amazing.  The way they acted and the things they did were things that felt very real.  And holy shit what happened to Samantha again just broke my heart. What broke my heart more was the way Kade reacted to it. At first I was angry at him but I kind of understand but still man.  But the second he  found out what was really happening he showed how much he was willing to do for Samantha.  Especially in the end Kade became the one that mended and healed Samantha. He really did everything for her and you could really tell how much he loves her. The way they helped and healed each other was really amazing. There a great couple.
I loved that Samantha still kept her sass and I loved seeing the soft side that Kade has. I also liked the side characters Jenn ( Jennifer) and Dylan.  Overall this is a great book and I’m happy I can add it to my paperback collection.

Quotes from this book.

Again, this is dedicated to the ones that are bruised and broken. Take my hand. It’s scarred and stained. I’ll pull you up and help you stand. You have the strength to ride the storm, I promise you. Don’t look into the darkness. Don’t look back. Don’t even wave goodbye. Just find that courage. There is strength inside all of us.

I was never weak , and I was never small. The monster was weak and small,

Brutally Beautiful by Christine Zolendz

A deadly game of hide and seek.

With blood still on her hands, Samantha Matthews is on the run, running from dark secrets and a man she prays to God will never find her. Running and hiding, just to stay alive. She had no choice but to run, to leave, to hide and forget about her life before. When Samantha believes she's gained enough distance from her past and her demons, she stops running, hoping to find her future in the heavily wooded area of the Adirondack Mountains, a place she never expected to encounter a man with secrets as dark and as sordid as hers.

Kade Grayson is hiding, not from the demons after him, but from himself and from the entire outside world, wishing every day he could have just died. Arrogant and domineering, he’s tormented and terrorized by his past, seeing nothing good for his future. With the ghosts of his past still haunting him, he has exiled himself to a life of solitude, only living for his words and through his stories.

Until her.

An undeniable attraction, turns into hate and then ultimately obsession, an obsession that grows into a powerful story of love and redemption.

Will the bond they have begun to build between them grow stronger than the tragedies that have scarred both of their lives? Or will they allow their demons to consume them?

Review

I was really interested in this books. I mean just look at the summary, it sounds very thrilling and mysterious. And that it was. I really liked this book.  The characters weren’t the age group I normally read about but I didn’t mind it one bit.

What is this book all about.
This book starts with Samantha and Jennifer in a car, beaten, driving as far away from something as fast as they can. They end up on a parking lot by a strip club in the middle of nowhere. They came up with new names for themselves. Jennifer chose the name Bree and Samantha chose the name Lainey. They start working as waitresses at the strip club for the very charming and handsome English men named Dylan.
When Kade  walks in his brothers, Dylan, strip club, he couldn’t help but be very interested in the beautiful girl with raven colored hair and green eyes. There is something about her that doesn’t allow him to take his eyes of her. Kade has suffered a great trauma in his past resulting him to have poor people skills and mayor trust issues.  He really acts like an ass with a personality disorder but he just can’t keep Lainey out of his thoughts and she is the reason he is feeling whole again.
Lainey is a very successful woman but is suffering from a massive trauma herself. But you can’t outrun your past forever, and lainey’s past is following her causing the people she cares about to be in danger. So she does the thing she did before, run.  Only running away from Kade is more difficult than she thought.

What did I think of this book.
I really liked Kade, he is an ripped, sexy, tall, alpha male with black hair and beautiful grey eyes. Behind his ten feet walls he has build around himself he is a broken man that is a great man. He is protective to the ones he love, he is a very talented writer. He just needed someone to make him want to live again, to make him feel alive and worthy.
Lainey was just amazing. What an admirable and strong person she is. I am really in awe of her and I would die to be the kind of person she is. She is strong, loving, witty, sexy, successful and just gorgeous.
This book was full of suspense and the secrets where being well kept and not revealed to soon. Never where you like okey now I know it all. There’s always more to the story and I liked that. It kept you on your toes. And the sex, dear god there were some very steamy sex scenes. I just couldn’t put the book down. I was seriously tempted to skim through some parts just to find out what would happen next.

Quotes from the book

“You never should have underestimated me”

“you’re acting like a bitch, and if I wanted a bitch, I would have adopted a dog”

“It’s a condom, Kade, because if you’re going to act like a dick, you might as well dress like one”

“Do you thing yourself as a man that’s well endowed, Francis? “ He squirmed in his seat, and gave me a slight nod. “ let me ask you then” I leaned in closer and licked my lips, trying to act as seductively as I could. “can your penis reach your rectum? “ Slowly, a flirtatious smile emerged on his face; he nodded and leaned his head closer to mine. “Then go fuck yourself”

Scorched by Jennifer Armentrout

Sometimes life leaves a mark…

Most days, Andrea doesn’t know whether she wants to kiss Tanner or punch him in the gut. He is seriously hot, with legit bedroom eyes and that firefighter body of his, but he’s a major player, and they can’t get along for more than a handful of minutes. Until now.

Tanner knows he and Andrea have had an epic love/hate relationship for as long as he can remember, but he wants more love than hate from her. He wants her. Now. Tomorrow. But the more he gets to know her, the more it becomes obvious that Andrea has a problem. She’s teetering on the edge and every time he tries to catch her, she slips through his fingers.

Andrea’s life is spiraling out of control, and it doesn’t matter that Tanner wants to save her, because when everything falls apart and she’s speeding toward rock bottom, only she can save herself.

Sometimes life makes you work for that happily ever after…

Review

I have yet to read a book from Jennifer that I didn’t like. I have said it many times and I will say it again this woman is a book writing genius

What is this book about
This book is about Andrea (Andy) and Tanner. In this book you’ll also find the characters from Frigid, Kyler and Sydney.  Andrea is a trust fund baby, but that doesn’t mean she acts like a spoiled brat. She volunteers at a suicide hotline and at the mental ward in a hospital. Both her parents are successful plastic surgeons and her brother is also studying to become a surgeon. Andrea was studying to become a surgeon but changed her major to teaching. Andrea likes to party and drink, and boy can she drink allot.
Tanner is working at the fire station and he’s going to the cop academy soon. He always wanted to help people and be a better man and cop than his father. Ever since he met Andrea he was interested. Who couldn’t be interested in a curvy read head with the pretty hazel eyes.
Andrea and Tanner are good at one thing bickering and fighting. Their banter can go on for a long time, sometimes crossing the line of insulting each other.
It still bugs Andrea that Tanner doesn’t remember her from the two classes they shared in there freshmen year, and that he slept with her roommate. She had a serious crush on the guy. She loved his cropped on the sides- short on the top, hair, his stormy blue eyes and his rock hard abs. I mean what is not to like, and on top of that he is a funny, charming and good guy.

What did I like about this book.
This book covers mental illness very well ( I won’t spoil who has a problem and what it is) I could really relate to that since I have been struggling with some personal problems as well. This book showed me that It’s okey to be  “messed up in the head” and that that doesn’t mean that nobody will love you. People will help you, want to help you if you let them. That it doesn’t mean you’re unworthy or that nobody will fall for you. Again you just have to let them.  This book also showed me that you don’t have to have a size 2 to be attractive.
I really loved Tanner. He is a very sweet, charming, sexy, caring and funny guy.  He really cares for Andrea and he really is what she needs.

Quotes from the book
I needed to learn to recognize when I was feeling depressed and what those quiet moments signified. I needed to develop better coping mechanisms, and that’s what dave and the staff helped me with. When I started to become restless, it was time to pick up a book, go watch a movie or take a walk, call a friend or visit family. I learned that I needed to open myself up. I had an amazing support system right at my fingertips. I just needed to allow myself to use them.

“I mean, I knew my head- my thoughts sometimes just didn’t make sense. Like it always went to the worst-case scenario and I .. I don’t think I’m good enough or worthy enough and those quiet moments, God there killer. That’s what’s really going on with me so- please don’t say anything that you really don’t mean". He didn’t say anything for a moment and then “First of, you are fucking good enough and you are worthy. Okey? Yeah you make a shit choice, but that’s not going to define who you are from this point. You know why?"  “ why? “ “Because you learned from your shit choice. You are still learning. You are doing everything to not make a shit choice like that again. And secondly? You have depression. So do how many million other people? I’m not trying to downplay it. I know it’s serious shit, but do you thing that makes me think any less of you? Depression isn’t the villain in this, the way you were trying to cope with is was. Depression isn’t the bad guy and neither are you.. And finally? I love you , Andrea”

Elude by Rachel van Dyken

Twenty-Four hours before we were to be married--I offered to shoot her.
Ten hours before our wedding--I made a mockery of her dying wish.
Five hours before we were going to say our vows--I promised I'd never love her.
One hour before I said I do--I vowed I'd never shed a tear over her death.
But the minute we were pronounced man and wife--I knew.
I'd only use my gun to protect her.
I'd give my life for hers.
I'd cry.
And I would, most definitely, lose my heart, to a dying girl---a girl who by all accounts should have never been mine in the first place.
I always believed the mafia would be my end game--where I'd lose my heart, while it claimed my soul. I could have never imagined. It would be my redemption.
Or the beginning of something beautiful.
The beginning of her.
The end of us.

Review
I didn’t think much of this book in the beginning  because I never really liked Sergio. But I was curious and I hoped to read more about Phoenix and Bee.  In this book there already married. I’m sad that we didn’t get to read about their wedding but I’m glad to see there doing fine.
But after reading this book I loved it. I love Andie and her look on life. I loved that even though she was dying she was living with such passion and full of life.

So what is this book all about.
This book focuses on Andie and Sergio. Andie is marrying into the abbanato family for protection from her Russian mob father. On top of that she has chronic leukemia so she doesn’t have much longer to live.
Sergio makes it very clear that he won’t get feelings for Andie and that he’ll only protect her and nothing more. He treats her less than a dog sometimes. Andie on the other hand doesn’t let her illness get the best of her and she is very bad ass. She is a Russian  trained killer after all. She even manages to hand Sergio’s ass to him and get the better of Tex.
For Sergio his marriage started out as a punishment but in the end he was her salvation. Andie said to Sergio that even though she was dying, he was the one that was already dead. And that was true. In the short time they were together, Andie manages to save Sergio and make him feel alive again.

What did I like about this book
I loved Andie. She was such an amazing character. She was very funny and bad ass. She was just great, I would love to have her as my friend. I also loved how Sergio changed in this book. I like him more now.
After hearing about how everybody cried on the RRR facebook page, I thought meh I don’t cry over books that easily. How wrong I was. I cried so hard, I was so emotional. I really can’t wait for the next book. I can’t imagine how that would turn out. I don’t want to spoil anything but danm poor Sergio.

SPOILER: I thought it was so weird that Nixon knew Trace was pregnant because she didn’t have her period for six weeks and she didn’t even notice it. It could be possible but it’s very unusual. But hej I’m happy for them.  This is how she found out
“Holy Crap” I jumped out of my chair and covered my mouth with my hands. “Trace!”She frowned, reaching a fist into the popcorn and stuffing it into her mouth. I shook my head “you’re pregnant”. She paled. Tex burst out laughing. “Nixon you dirty dog””Huh?”Nixon walked into the kitchen, a gun in hand. Seriously, did the guy ever turn it off? Or put it away? Probably why Trace was preggers. I smirked at my own joke. “Why am I dirty?” “Trace!”Mo pointed an accusing finger in Trace’s face. “You got your wife pregnant. Well done, evil twin. Well done”. Nixons face broke into a smile “oh..”He winked at Tex “That..” Popcorn fell out of Trace’s hand as she started counting on her fingers. “Six weeks” Nixon said, looking bored. Trace’s eyes widened. Nixon shrugged “What? I know your cycle better than you do. You’re about six weeks along. I was waiting for you to say something, thought maybe you didn’t know” His grin was shameless. “Apparently, someone’s been distracted” Trace launched herself at Nixon, wrapped her arms around her neck “Why didn’t you tell me? “ Nixon kissed her across the mouth “I honestly thought you were just waiting to tell me until you were further along – until you knew. Don’t girls do that. “No..”Phoenix stumbled into the room, his eyes tired. “They tell you right away and then cause you to freak out at the exact same time they find out, making you lose sleep and wonder if your child is going to inherit the same awful tendencies to stay up ALL THE NIGHT LONG!
“Just me?  Tex frowned. “Or did Phoenix just say “all the night long? Like he was born in the eighteen hundreds.     SPOILER

Quotes from the book

“Chill, you’re both pretty. Now adjust your balls, scratch your ass, and burp so we can get back to dresses and champagne”

In those brief moments, Sergio had given me all I’d ever wanted- but had never been brave enough to admit. Freedom from the thoughts of sickness. Freedom from the thoughts of death. Freedom from my physical body reminding me that is was soon.

“Holy Shit” Chase burst out laughing. “Really, dude? You realize there’s four dead bodies surrounding your little love nest?”Sergio started stalking toward him. I grabbed his arm and jerked him back. Did he not realize he was still naked? Nixon followed, his eyes scanning the mess of blood and bodies before turning to us “Nice work” “Amazing, leave it to Nixon to comment on the dead bodies rather than the naked ones”

“Damn it, I’m not your bitch. You can’t make me cook every night!” – Chase

I also decided to make some collages of the other characters and the women in the book.
