Review "Stalking Jack the Ripper Series by Kerri Maniscalco"

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord's daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.

Against her stern father's wishes and society's expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle's laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.

Review:
I was surprised by this book. I wasn't sure if I'd like it since it's young adult and historical but I did. This book was very captivating and it held by attention. I wasn't bothered by the fact that it was ya and there was no smut because it fit the time they were in and there was enough going on that was interesting.

What is this book about:
This book is about a girl names Audry Rose. She is 17 years old and is quite the modern lady for someone that lives in the 1800. She is beautiful, but also very clever and smart. She doesn't want to be chained to what society deems good enough for a woman. She is an apprentice for her uncle and helps do autopsy's. She is eager to learn and to be independent.
Ever since her mother died her father became over protective of her. He is terrified that she gets ill and something happens to her. He tries to shelter her as much as he can. Besides her father, she lives with her brother on their estate.
Audry Rose isn't the only one apprenticing for her uncle, charming, witty and brilliant Thomas is as well. Audry Rose finds him as attractive as she finds him annoying. Thomas really isn't shy and makes it known that he is very interested and attracted to Audry Rose as well.
Things are starting to get more and more dangerous on the streets in London as Jack the Ripper is on the lose. Together with Thomas, Audry Rose tries to discover who Jack the Ripper is and solve the murders. Shocking revelations come to light and Audry Rose realizes she is a woman that loves the Ripper.....

What did I like about this book:
I really liked how modern Audry Rose felt despite being an Victorian English noble women. I liked that she didn't let herself be pushed into being just a trophy wife. She wanted to learn and make a live for herself.
I really like Thomas. He is very charming and funny. I really liked how he was supporting Audry Rose and how he though and treated her as an equal.
One thing I also liked is how well the author kept the mystery going. It was hard to tell who the killer was. And the way she described the medical stuff going on was very interesting me as I to work in the medical field.
I am very impressed with the author, she did an amazing job for her first novel. I can't wait to read more about these characters!

Review:
Sometimes book can suffer from the "second book syndrome" in a series. Meaning they sometimes aren't as good as the first one. This was definitely not the case. The characters were still as good as they where in the first book, they got even better. The mystery was still there and it was as unpredictable as it was in the first book.
One thing that did start to bother me a tiny bit is the amount of times Audry Rose would say they where being unchaperoned and how bad that was for their image and such, for her to be alone with Thomas. At some point I felt my self thing "Yes I know, you're being scandalous, I got it".

What is this book about:
This book is about Audry Rose and Thomas. Both are traveling to Romania to attend a medical forensic school. Both of them could use some peace and quiet after the events in Stalking Jack the Ripper. Audry Rose is still very much struggling with everything that happend, and still mourning. However peace and quit just doesn't seem like that can happen for both of them as there has been a murder committed right outside their train compartment. And things don't end there. As if it isn't hard enough for Audry Rose to be in such a women unfriendly profession and school, students and maids go missing and end up murdered. Is the famous Vlad Dracula really back from the dead as the villagers are thinking, or is there a more scientific explanation for these odd deaths.
As Audry Rose and Thomas work their best to secure a spot on the academy, and solving murders, they are also growing more close. Their friendship is getting stronger and there is also some change going on. Once again its up to our crime solving duo to figure out who is behind these murders before they themselves become a target....

What did I like about this book:
I really loved the banter between Audry Rose and Thomas. They would make an amazing couple and that needs to happen ASAP. They are just perfect for one another.
I loved the mystery in this book. Once again I couldn't figure out who was behind these killings. It's very cleverly written.
I just adore Thomas. He is such a funny, charming guy. I really like him.
Another thing I liked seeing was how Audry Rose was struggling with what happend. Not that I liked to see her suffering but it made it more realistic.

I can't wait to read more about them, especially after that ending. That ending made me so incredibly happy.
Sadly that happiness changed into anxiety and took some of the magazines of these books away after I saw a bit of a spoiler regarding the next book. If its gonna go the way people are suggesting they are it might ruin the books for me. There are certain tropes that I just can't do and it seems like that might happen.

Review:
I was a bit skeptical going into this book but also super excited. Why skeptical you ask? Well I read some of the ARC reviews and they really made me nervous.
There where moments in this book when I really wanted to slap the shit out of Audrey Rose. She can be so frustrating! Thomas was his every loving and charming self as always.
There where great moments between them too. Can't wait to see where the story will go from here.

What is this book about:
This book starts where the last book 'Hunting Prince Dracula' ended. Audrey Rose and Thomas are on board of a ship to America to assists Audrey Rose's uncle in a murder case. However the ship they are on becomes a floating crime scene when a young woman ends up being murdered during a carnival show.
Audrey Rose and Thomas are trying to find out who the killer is before he strikes again. But time isn't on their side, they only have 7 days to figure it out before the ship arrives in America and unleashes the killer on main land.
That's not the only thing Audrey Rose and Thomas are fighting against. No, there's also the mysterious and intriguing ringmaster named Mephistopheles.
Thomas and Mephistopheles have something in common, they both want Audrey Rose.  Now Audrey Rose has to decide if she wants to be with the man that has been her partner in crime or the mysterious man that promises a live time of adventure.

What did I like about this book:
I loved Thomas and Audrey Rose moments. It was full of fun banter and steamy scenes. I loved the mystery and how well the book was written.
Overall I loved this book and I can't wait to read the last one! The wait will be torturous. Thomas better delivers his promise on getting Audrey Rose alone on his country estate so they'll have all the privacy in the world.
This may contain spoilers, so don't read on if you don't want to know.

What I didn't like where Audrey Rose's tricks and manipulation. I get her feeling doubts but she owed it to herself and thomas to be honest about it. I get that she wanted to learn new things, but is learning new things worth screwing with someones head and manipulating them. It was so well written that I forgot on multiple occasions that it was suppose to be an experiment, a learning opportunity for Audrey Rose. And I think she did too at certain points.
I love the girl but I don't like how she played with Thomas feelings, and her own. Same with how she handled her cousin.
It worked out just fine in the end. And I'm glad it didn't end the way I feared. I hate love triangles and that's why I was scared of reading this book, but the way it ended made it oke for me. No love triangle here.
